From rooftop of the Peninsula hotel...

France is going through a big economic crisis, but in Paris, there is still room for luxury and glamour! Hence the Peninsula Hotel, the brand new luxury hotel that opened on August 1st after 4 years of work! Large swimming pool, SPA, 45 suites, art pieces everywhere, outstanding service and, of course, excellent restaurants. One in particular called L'oiseau blanc (after the name of a plane that disappeared in 1927), located at the top of the hotel, facing the Eiffel tower (bien sûr...). Thanks to AALynn (that you know if you've been following this blog for a long time) I had the please of having lunch there, in excellent company! It was unforgettable... (and before you ask, no, I walk discuss price here!).

  2. Where HAVE I been? L'Oiseau Blanc was completely new to me. So France has its equivalent to Amelia Earhart. Or visa versa.

    1. LOL. Actually I did not know of Amelia either... We're even ;-) Here is a little blurb about the first French female pilot pioneers.

  3. You missed a chance to take a photo of Lynn dans L'oiseau blanc. Now THAT would be an interesting Tenin perspective photo, and very appropriate for Lynn, n'est-ce pas? -Jeff

    1. Nothing like having Eric grace your table at lunch. My picture of the plane looks nothing like this. You are a master.

  5. Hi Eric,

I was wondering if you've seen this page of photos of Paris in the 20's:

    1. Great photos Maria, thank you. What is interesting is that Paris has not change that much during all these years.
