If you're on social networks, you probably have seen this already. This? Is an inflatable piece of art by Paul McCarthy, an American artist (from Salt Lake City) known for his provocative installations (
check this article). Therefore, what on earth could this giant green mushroom that grew over night on the Place Vendôme really be? Various propositions circulated these past days - including, of course, a giant sex toy - but the reality is much less daring... This is simply a Christmas tree!
"A giant sex toy" : my thought exactly!
ReplyDeleteMy mind wandered into the gutter too, so....
ReplyDeleteThe Sisters Of Little Or No Mercy might have something to say about that.
Really? Ok, I guess if somebody wanted to put in a plug for something. I'm guessing it's both a tree and...but... Those artists, what can you say? I love that this is in Place Vendome. Maybe Cartier will create a diamond studded...tree ornament, yeah, that's it. -Jeff
ReplyDeleteOf course it's just a Christmas tree—but some of your friends (and I) have been having fun with this on Facebook!
ReplyDeleteA few in the French hemisphere must have lost their sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteAnd a very ugly Christmas tree it is.
ReplyDeleteTo those who are seeing this as a sex toy: why the f*** are you plugging a christmas tree into you ass?!? :~)
ReplyDeleteRight! a sex toy called a "butt plug " in the gay world .
ReplyDeleteHa! I know Paul McCarthy personally. He lives and works in Pasadena/Altadena. It's a butt plug. He revels in linguistic duplicity. That's our Paul! I heard someone slugged him.
