Paris Nuit Blanche

Last night was a "Nuit Blanche" (White Night) again... That is a night during which dozens of contemporary art performances are being held throughout the city (see the program in English here if you're interested). I tried to see a few, but it was so crowded that I quickly gave up! However, I managed to take a photo at the Hotel de Ville (town hall) where they installed a message in several languages saying : "Love differences". Not thrilling really, but the colors are nice!

  1. Reflexively I looked for my own language...The one on top left corner in blue is turkish :) Nice activity, lovely photo!

  4. Would like to have been there, Eric, but thanks for the photos. I think that Phoenix-to-CDG was quite drole with the "jour chaude."
    Merci,

  5. My Editing OCD in full force:

    Would it mean either "Love the difference(s)" or "Love differentiates"??

    Lynn, Petrea, any idea?

    Thanks for the post, Eric! Rock on...

    La Culture n'a pas de frontières et le spectacle continue...

    Cheers!

  8. Eric, may I ask a question please? I have booked a trip for I and a few of my friends to Paris in March. They are all asking about the terror threat that has been in the news these past days. Are you and your friends worried about this? I want to reassure them that there is nothing to worry about. Donna

  9. I LOVE differences; that's where you learn and grow as a human.

    And this really is a cool photo ;o)

  10. Yes, I was there too Eric - lovely colours as you say, but it would have been nice to have had some movement or music too. Did you see the pont Saint-Louis? Now that was... different!

  11. It's colorful! I hope you had fun trying the different performances that you could get into, Eric! Thanks for braving the crowds for us. I think the photo is very appropriate--very colorful, very multi-cultural, and very fun!

  12. I love it! And I also love differences, and the differences in the ways people love, and the fact that love makes a difference, and . . . merci, Eric!

  13. @Sibel. I actually thought of you when I saw the one in Turkish! Consequently I did not photograph the one in English which was at the extreme right! Sorry. I had to make a choice...

    @Orfeo2k I hope it was nice too. I love the idea that every one on the planet celebrate the same kind of things ;-)

    @phx-cdg That IS funny!

    @Keats "Would it mean either "Love the difference(s)" or "Love differentiates"??" Er... I think the message there is definitely : don't reject differences but love them. A bit cheesy, but very moral too.

    @Linda "Very appropriate! I can't sleep! :-)" LOL

    @Tonton "Wow!! I didn't realize it was time for Nuit Blanche already!! It will be Christmas before we know it!! Great shot, merci!!" Tell me about it...

    @Donna "Eric, may I ask a question please?" You certainly may! Actually there is not much I can say. I personally am not worried, but that does not mean there is no actual threat. There is always a risk, wherever you are in the world (OK, probably more in Paris or NYC than in Bontemps, Lousiana, but still... :;-) Check this FYI.

    @Bettina "I LOVE differences" I'm not surprised ;-))

    @Sab "Did you see the pont Saint-Louis? Now that was... different!" No really, even on my sccoter it was impossible to move around, so I gave up. I'm getting old you know...

    @Christie "Thanks for braving the crowds for us." You're welcome, it's my Karma, you know ;-)

    @Alexa "I love it! And I also love differences, and the differences in the ways people love, and the fact that love makes a difference, and . . . merci, Eric!" OMG!!

  14. Hi Eric, I just moved to Paris for a year to study and went out last night too! The crowds were crazy at 9pm but around 2am we went back to Notre Dame and walked straight in. I'm glad we went back, it was so beautiful! Did you get a chance to see inside?

  15. @Cait. No, I wanted to, but it was too crowded and... by 2am I was already in bed!
