Wish you were here
We're having a wonderful weather at the moment and it's really cool. I had my weekly meeting at La Défense today and on the way back I could not help but taking a photo of the arch with the clear blue sky in the background. I know you've seen this arch a few times on PDP, but there is always something to learn about it... Did you know it's 160 ft (50 m) high, that the large vault is 95.8 ft (29.19 m) high and 48.0 ft (14.62 m) wide and that a plane managed to fly through it once (in 1919)!

Wish I was there too. :)
ReplyDeleteMe too. Thanks, Eric. You've brought back some wonderful memories I have of my first trip to Paris exactly five years ago on Thursday. I visited the Arch on a day like the one in you photo. Wish I was there, too.
ReplyDeleteNice to see. I have only been there once, but I had time to see two cars collide while taking photos of the arch.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how badly I wish I were there today.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, Eric.
Awwwwwww...thanks a bunch Eric!! You are so amazing at charming us with photos of Paris and making us "homesick" for the city we love; now can you PLEASE do something about the dollar and the euro??? We need relief so we can come visit!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I WAS there. It is cool here but we have no beautiful arches. I did not know about the plane...that is a pretty neat fact. I really love looking at your shots.

Bonjour Eric~ I'm imagining a plane flying thru that arch~ that would have been amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove the little smart car in the photo, it gives an idea of how huge that arch is!

I can never get enough of this (or that other Parisian monument we all love so much)! Glad you're having such beautiful weather—it was gorgeous in NYC today too (but just now we had an incredible thunderstorm—with hailstones the size of grapes!).
ReplyDelete@All Things French - that was exactly what I was thinking.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful juxtaposition. Eric you are a genius!
Thank you so much for giving me a little bit of Paris each day; it's like breath to me.
beautiful! I too can never get enough & yes I wish I were there too.
ReplyDeletethanks for the lovely sentiment Eric.
: )
I didn't know about the plane! I see a smart car can get through, though.
ReplyDeleteUsually, the Arch is on the first and then on the last photo I take each time I come to Paris. I have quite a collection :)
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, me too - I wish I was there!
What a shot of energy in this picture....I have similar but with an old Mini driving near... may the sun shine for you all week:)
ReplyDeleteWe seem to be in agreement: we wish we were there too! Enjoy the wonderful weather.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first come to Paris I was really amazed by the size of it! Napoleon sure wanted to be remembered! :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had an arch; what's all that about then? ;)
ReplyDeleteLove how you happened to capture the Smart Car, too. Thanks for making my day a bit brighter.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I really do wish I was there, but I'm glad to be here too. But someday....
ReplyDeleteOnly wish I was there too....
ReplyDeleteGood Morning from Virginia, USA.
ReplyDeleteEric that is a wonderful photo. We are anxious to get back to PAris and see it again. It would be nice if the wonderful weather would continue for 3 weeks.
Great weather, great photo! I am changing back my FB profile photo again to the one with this beautiful arc! :) Lovely Eric, enyoj the very last days of summer!
ReplyDeleteSibel.
I wish I was there too...but my flight cancelled! Are you having a strike in CDG ? AA didn't tell me why they cancelled the flight a day in advance .
ReplyDelete@Emeraldeyes "Eric you are a genius!" LOOOOOOOOOOL!
ReplyDelete@PHX-CDG "Yes there was a big strike in Paris today, that was probably the reason why. Sorry...
Great shot Eric! Good in many ways. Thanks for the daily Parisian doses. Classic as this one or original as so many.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, look at the little Smart, right in the middle of the huge arc!! ;) Nice catch ;)
