Winter in one month, really?

I can hear you from here: "I wish so much I'd be in this guy's shoes right now..." I bet you would LOL. Not only is he enjoying a nice baguette sandwich (OK, I'm making up the baguette part...), but on top of that, it's almost like spring in Paris at the moment. Today is November 24 and the forecast says it'll be 14°c (57° F) in the afternoon (+5° compare to a "normal" November)! A-ma-zing! I took this photo near Notre Dame BTW, where they are currently installing the big Christmas tree - which I will show you eventually of course ;-) BTW(2) Happy Thanksgiving to all my American visitors - Go easy on the Turkey LOL!

  1. Across from Ile de la Cite on Quai Saint-Michel or Quai des Grands Augustins, n'est-ce pas? I have a couple photos from a walk along the Seine in 2005 with a buddy of mine. There was a pretty girl walking by who sat on the wall like this guy and had a few bites of something before walking on. Not that I was watching closely, of course.

  2. I wonder if this guy knows that there's such an awesome photo of him posted here for all the world to see! Happy Thanksgiving to all the American PDP'ers! (it's still Thanksgiving Eve where I am :)) Now, back to baking pies...

  3. I´m sooooooo envious! In Vienna it´s freezing cold and there hasn´t been even one ray of light for more than a week!

  6. This photo makes me wonder about the guy. I'll bet he's a traveler because of his bag. He's a free man in Paris, unfettered and alive.

  7. And now winter is already here enduring the 5 degrees coldness.

  8. Petrea, you are a super sleuth! I was so focused on the guy and his coolness, that I completely missed the bag. I think you're right! Back to baking my brownies...

  9. Super great photo !

I don't know about the shoes, lol, but I would definitely like to be in his place.

Yeah the weather is weird. Last year at this time we had a blizzard and this year we don't even have to turn the heating on.

Jeff: No of course you didn't watch the pretty parisienne ;o)

  10. Ah, a marvelous photo! I predict it could turn out to be a favorite here at PDP.

(I also saw the bag, and thought that Petrea's description of the man was perfect.)

  11. Everything about this picture is interesting--the surface of the water is absolutely perfect in its ripples, the way the gentleman looks lost in thought and the feeling it invokes (maybe that has to do with the b&w). And for some reason the gentleman reminds me of Johnny Depp.

  13. You know I love black and white! This is just lovely though. As we are celebrating Thanksgiving, it is so easy to remember all the blessings we have. Thanks for the blessing of the PDP, Eric! :)

  14. Johnny Depp? In your dreams Sunshine.
He's one of those guys who sells bottled water to the tourists on the streets. You can just see one of the little bottles poking out of his bag.
Probably works the streets in the more upmarket areas.
Petrea, he's certainly alive, and unfettered, at least until the cops see this photo and arrest him.

Jeff, you need to get out more.

PS They've just put the Christmas Tree outside our City Hall and it is noticeably smaller this year.
    It's the recession, dear.

  15. Love the photo - one of my favorites. Happy Thanksgiving to my American PDPers (and everyone else). I am thankful for the daily dose of Paris escape PDP provides! I am also thankful it will be 60 degrees F here in Minneapolis today (pretty nice right Jeff?). Thanks!

  16. Yep, a nice day and yep, Drummond, I need to get out more: especially on nice days like today. Ok, studying is finished for the day, time to start preparing my contribution to the family dinner.

    Enjoy your day, everyone.

  20. What a glorious shot...and I agree that closing the street is a noble thought but adding more traffic to other congested streets really isn't the solution...is it??
