7th year anniversary!
Had someone told me that I would be posting a photo of Paris every day, on a blog without missing one single day, I would have laughed (out loud, of course!). And though, here we are 7 years later! About 7 years ago I was offered a digital camera and since I did not know what to do with it, I started this blog, which lead to great encounters and discoveries... To celebrate, let me offer you this sunset that I took a couple of days ago in the 20th arrondissement, from a place called La Bellevilloise where I attended a product launch. The bell tower you can see in this photo belongs to Notre Dame de la Croix, the 3rd largest church in Paris.

Congratulations, Eric. Seven years without missing a day! That is quite a record. Even more impressive to me is the number of other bloggers who have been encouraged to create their own daily photo blogs after discovering your blog.
ReplyDeleteMerci, Eric!!!
ReplyDeleteMammie
Eric, I cannot thank you enough for your blog. Amazing pictures and little facts but most importantly, you have kept it daily and I know that no matter a bad day or a good day, that short post will brighten my day :).
ReplyDeleteThank you and please carry on!
Congratulations and many, many thanks, Eric. I always look forward to your beautiful photos and the Tenin Perspective in both photography and words. Wishing you, and us, your fans, seven or twenty-seven more years!
ReplyDelete"I had lived there seven years, and it certainly was home; and seemed likely to remain so for another seven, or even twenty-seven..." (Archie Goodwin in Rex Stout's first Nero Wolfe story, Fer-De-Lance.)
Joyeux anniversaire, Eric! Thanks for the many years of daily photos. Ever since my days posting here as "Pont Girl" I have enjoyed stopping by to find out what is going on in my favorite city. I have learned so many things from you about Paris. Your dedication is much appreciated and highly applauded!
ReplyDeleteThat is a mean feat, Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations & thank you, Eric! It's a long way from Paris to Australia but your fantastic blog allows me to experience "a little bit of Paris" each day as I count down the minutes until my next visit to your beautiful city.
ReplyDeleteMel
That's impressive ... really, really impressive. And I always enjoy seeing your view of this great city.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It has been a fine effort and such a beautiful result.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a blessing you have been! Thank you thank you thank you!
ReplyDeleteBien sur, joyeux anniversaire PDP de moi. Vraiment, I missed being in Paris last year, but you know my spirit is there always. And thank you for all your efforts on PDP. Just think of all the people who came together because of you. Think of all who now are friends, both on your blog and, for me and some others, in reality. You've met many of them, I've met many, and not all of them are crazy, just most of us!
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup, Eric. As Jeff said, the influence you've had is immeasurable. Thank you so much for what you've created and shared with us all.

Kudos, my friend, for the incredible dedication and that "good eye" of yours. It's a good thing you got that digital camera instead of a food processor or else we might have been reading a cooking blog for the past 7 years.

7 ans, c'est l'age de raison, non ? ;-)
ReplyDeleteMais pas une raison pour s'arrêter là, j'espère ;-)
Congratulations,Eric! And thanks for all these great photos, which often inspire me when I'm with my camera (the famous Tenin perspective is something I use every now and then!!)
Seven years - and a perfect record. Congrats both for that endurance and for today's photo (well composed).
ReplyDeleteA quote from Robert Douisneau which I think apropos:
"A hundredth of a second here, a hundredth of a second there - even if you put them end to end, they still only add up to one, two, perhaps three seconds, snatched from eternity."
Regards - @extradiagetic
A beautiful shot, Eric. I guess you learned how to use that camera to your advantage. Nice.
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup, Eric******.
ReplyDeletefor taking us every day to Paris no matter where
we all are.LOL.
Salu Kara
Congratulation...they say 7 year is a dangerous year....

It may be just a picture and a caption but since 2008 you sure have lifted my spirits, introduced knowledge and inspired creativity....thank you Eric!
ReplyDeleteMerci Beaucoup, Eric for your wonderful photos of Paris and congratulations for your faithfulness of 7 years!!
ReplyDeletePersonally, this blog has introduced me to friends all over the world as well as a gorgeous photo of a city I have longed to visit. I keep saying someday, but yesterday marked the first day we have savings marked "Paris/London trip" set aside. It will take a few years of work, but we are looking forward to it! :)
I echo the words above, but especially those of wise Stuart! :-)
ReplyDeleteBravo and congratulations.
@Tomate - the next time you run into Mark Zuckerberg, could you remind him that Eric was the original Facebook?!

Eric,
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that you have been doing this for so long. I found the site about 5 years ago and have been checking it daily ever since (even though I don't comment as often as I used to).
Thank you so much for bringing Paris into my life on a daily basis. You provide such wonderful insight into the city and show us things we wouldn't see otherwise.
Hopefully one day I'll be able to join in for the annual picnic again.
I don't visit as often as I used to, but a big THANK YOU for this wonderful blog, which I have used in my French Civilization classes!
ReplyDeleteHad someone told me that I would be posting a photo of Valladolid every day, on a blog without missing one single day, I would have laughed (out loud, of course!). And though, here we are almost 2 years later! About 2 years ago I was reading a Paris guidebook when suddenly I read about PDP and Eric´s interesting idea. After taking a look at the blog I started mine, which lead to discover many things about my city and others around the world. Thank you, Eric!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've been checking in here for most of those 7 years, barring a few weeks at the beginning -- and even though I rarely comment, I appreciate what you do very much. In fact, you shape the visits we make to Paris every spring (this will be our 8th year in a row) -- many of the places we've visited are because you've let us know about them. Thank you so much for what you do.
ReplyDeleteEric,
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup for every single one of those inspired photos! They make me yearn for Paris every single day! Happy 7th!
Jeanne
Thank-you, Eric, so much for all of the wonders of Paris that you have shown to us!! Congratulations on seven years!!! Blessings always, C-Marie USA
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! 7 years without missing a post is an amazing accomplishment. You are an inspiration to many of us in the City Daily Photo community. Here's to 7 more years!
ReplyDeleteWhat everyone else said: ditto!!! Love waking up in the morning with my coffee and Paris Daily Photo:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Eric! Seven years is a l~o~n~g time and just think you never missed a beat!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous view!
Your constancy is beyond reproach Mr. Tenin.
ReplyDeleteWhat beverage shall we partake of to commerate your magnificent achievement?
Why, Seven Up of course!
Congratulations on your 7 wonderful years! I love visiting your blog. I may be happily living in Toronto, but my heart will always be in Paris :)
ReplyDeleteYesterday was the anniversary of your very first post and also the 92nd anniversary of my mom's birth. She's still going strong and I hope you'll still be blogging when you're 92! (And special thanks since I'm one of many you've inspired to start blogging.)
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary! 7 years without break of outstanding photos. Every photo is a wonderful treat. Thanks for all your work and enthusiasm.
ReplyDeletegreat photos , fabulous city and wonderful community of PDP ers . Merci for making it possible x
ReplyDeleteSeven years - that's fantastic. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteSoooo beautiful....that goes for both the photo and your dedication to your creation. Congratulations and merci mille foix.
ReplyDeleteBojour Eric!
ReplyDeleteEach afternoon, for most of the existence of the blog, at near the time you post your current image of a day, I am poised to what you have discovered, whether see what you have chosen to share with use, be it an exquisite early morning sunrise or a deary overcast rain or an infrequent snow. The subject matter you choose is diverse: from people, sculpture, architecture, events, etc. All of us PDP groupies delight in opening your daily gift wrapped in text expanding our knowledge of the city of light.
No one has spoken much, if at all, of your impressive improvement in "seeing". What used to be a mere step just above snap shots has now grown to selective composition, observation of light, and often waiting for that "decisive moment."
Your short text captions are delightful jewels of information that often have led me to over a half hour of research on my own.
I could list over fifty images that have let me in on things and places I, and none of us would every be aware of. The ones that are of familiar subject matter are often portrayed in a unique "perspective.
Can't wait until tomorrow's surprise gift!
Stef in Chicago
Eric,
ReplyDeleteYour PDP is one of the first things I check when I get up in the morning. I have shared so many of your postings and links with my AP French students. You always manage to find something to pique their/our interest even with seemingly ordinary things.
Cordialement,
Kim
Congratulations Eric! Your blog has been the guiding light to all Daily City Blogs and your stunning photos keep my love of Paris buring brightly!! Rabaul Jules xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Eric! and Happy Birthday, PDP! You know I love this place, that's no secret. But what I truly cherish is the opportunity to engage in conversation with so many wonderful people from all over the world. Some of you I've met in person at the PDP picnic of 2009, and some here in the comments box, but either way you are all equally as precious to me. You make me happy, and it's all thanks to Eric.
ReplyDeletePDP = one step closer to world peace!

@Jules...probably my visitor from the furthest away...Thank you for following from Rabaul! For you I make a special reply. Rabauldailyphoto-jules.blogspot.com is still stunning even after you posted this final message: "I have struggled with phone lines since the beginning, but they have finally got the better of me. It is just too frustrating and time-consuming, and the cost each month has escalated to an amount that would enable me a to buy a return ticket to Australia, which is just ridiculous...So it isn't goodbye - just see ya later!!"

ReplyDeleteFrom Montréal, Canada
@ANonymous (from Montréal). Merci à vous. Tomorrow's post is dedicated to you!
ReplyDeleteEric, I meant 'no mean feat' or a great achievement to do your blog for seven years without missing a beat & continuing to produce quality & interesting photos & a story behind those photos. You should've been paid by France Tourism Authority [or it's equivalent governemnt body] for all these publicity!
ReplyDeleteI've seen your blog years ago & I was inspired to photo blog as well; without too much success.
Congratulations Eric. Ian and I send you love and thanks from far away. We hope you will come down to see us again one day soon. xxxxx
ReplyDeleteSimply fantastic, what an awesome accomplishment. Your photos are beautiful and it is an incredibly real way to "see" Paris without seeing Paris. Thank you for sharing in your moments!!
ReplyDeleteHave loved visiting Paris every day -- and hearing your descriptions of the prettiest city on the face of the planet.
ReplyDeleteSue
Congratulations, Eric, and thank you!

7 years?!!! Longer than most marriages out here ;)
ReplyDeleteSeems like only yesterday, I was sitting in my kitchen looking at the photo of the Petite Ceinture in the 12th, almost at the beginning ... and then I was hooked to the friendly blog that made me homesick from time to time... but also so comfortable, like a virtual living room.
I raise my glass also to the many friends you have made along the way through the blog and the photos.
Happy B'day PDP and maybe another 7 year?!!
TF
Happy, happy 7th Blogoversary, dear Eric. Such a talented, creative, interested, interesting, entrepreneurial, inspiring human being. You keep me in love with Paris through your images and words. Always a delight! Many thanks and best wishes to the friendly Parisian who has friendships spanning the globe and his own little tribe wonderful regular commenters and fans.
