Reading in Le square de Cluny

If you happen to wander at the corner of boulevard Saint Germain and boulevard Saint Michel, by the Cluny museum, I strongly recommend you take a walk inside the square de Cluny, a half medieval/half modern garden where you can barely hear the traffic noise. I went there for the first time this morning and took this cool photo. I think I should have used it for our June theme day "tranquility"!

  1. I don't think anything will ever take the place of a book for me. Tranquility itself. For sure.

  3. I ate a baguette sandwich inside this square a while back - loved it!

While I adore everything about Paris, is this person lying on a ledge or the ground? I do not think I would want to lie with my hair directly on a ledge or the sidewalk, especially after les pidgeons et chiens do their business there...

  5. Now THERE'S that famous perspective! The Cluny is maybe my favorite Paris museum—and I just love this picture that you took in the wonderful square de Cluny.

  6. Oh, I'd love to be able to do that tomorrow instead of going to the office --

  9. Simplicité, calme et lecture...

Si en plus, l'instant est capturé dans l'objectif...

c'est une belle rencontre entre les mots et l'image.

Ce n'est pas du Matisse cette fois, mais du Tenin ;-))

  10. Appropriate reading in English would be The Canterbury Tales. I don't know what medieval works were written in French.

The weather here has been perfect.

  11. I know this may sound silly, I only take my books out to dinner-during the day I always think I need to be on the move-I will remember the park for sitting down and enjoying a bit or drink. I have been in the museum many times but never took the time for the park.

  12. Looks like a wonderful respite. I would dearly love it today, as I dealing with a teething baby who is so very tired. Poor thing, maybe we just need to go outside and sit in the shade.

  14. I love those little peaceful squares you find to chill out in Paris but I'm with Monnica don't think I'd lie directly on the ground!

  16. "His position" ?
I really thought it was a woman reading ... Funny!
Anyway, this is really not a comfy position... and
I'm afraid only a few minutes like this may be relaxing !

  17. It is amazing how tranquil that garden is! I was there several times in May. Boulevard Saint-Germain teemed with activity, but the Cluny garden was an oasis of calm. We fed pigeons there and became very attached to one that is missing a toe. It was wonderful.

Yes, I know it's hard to tell. But I saw him up close and I can assure you it was a "he"!
