Tranquility, really?

Today's theme day among the CDP community is "Tranquility". Frankly there is not much that makes me think of anything tranquil in a big city like Paris! I first thought of showing you water, but even on the Seine there is a constant circulation of boats and "bateaux mouche" ! So here is a scene that I took last night, right after I went out of the Marigny Theater on the Champs Elysées. The street is pretty busy of course, but the sunset is rather "tranquil"! As always, have a look at what the other CDP bloggers posted for today's theme day...

  1. Wow, it looks like you've transported the Champs Elysées to the California shore! THANKS ERIC!!! I'm not giving it back.

  5. You probably don't think of many tranquil things in Paris, because you're a native. I experience tranquility several times each time I visit Paris! My city is Los Angeles, and I don't think much here is tranquil either, but every once in a while I am taken by a certain place or occasion. Beautiful sunset in this photo!

  6. Interesting photo of contradiction -- all the traffic, and then the tranquil, beautiful sunset.

  7. Nice photo. The horizontal bands are amazing. Good timing. (A decisive moment?)

My tranquil spot in Paris is the Medici fountain in Jardin du Luxembourg. Monnica: tranquil spots in LA are at the Getty up on the hill, looking over LA and the ocean, and at the Norton Simon looking at the Impressionist paintings or walking the sculpture garden.

  8. There are plenty of tranquil spots in Paris (hey, you can always step into a church). Have to agree with you that the Champs Elysées is not one of them, but that is one gorgeous sunset! (What did you see at the Marigny?)

  9. I always think as Paris as a tranquil place Eric, and this photo emphasises that. But I only go there when I am relaxed and on holiday- it must be different day to day living, as with any city.

  14. Wow Eric, another superb photo!
It actually is a mix of tranquility (the top), and a bit of chaos (the bottom)
I can imagine how crazy it must be to live in such a hectic city, but at the same time, I wish a little of that craziness in my life!

The good thing is that you can get out to the lovely countryside when the weekend comes.
    Great shot!
