Spring in December...

If it weren't for the bare trees you could easily think I took this photo last spring, couldn't you? The sky is stunning, the chairs are out, and so are the lovers! Well, I did  take it yesterday (Saturday) at the Tuileries gardens, while I was taking advantage of this stunningly mild weather we have at the moment (15+°C/60°F). I know it's not going to last, but what a nice way of closing the year. In case you're wondering, what's written on the wall is part of a piece of art by American artist Lawrence Weiner

  1. I always think the Paris sky is stunning. Wish it were spring like in Connecticut... we are in the middle of a snow storm...but it is absolutely beautiful looking out at it.

  2. Sounds wonderful. It is about -15C here!

About the lovers in the photo: it looks like she is...experiencing and celebrating an...event!

  3. I hope you had a good Christmas, Eric. I'm glad you've got good weather. It's been raining a lot here but we're expecting similar weather to yours on January 1st for the Rose Parade.

  4. How are things going against the skyscrapers the Mayor wants to build in Paris? I'm getting really worried about that, even though I'm not even French...

  6. Interestingly, I blogged about an artwork by Lawrence Weiner last April. Small world! (Here's the link if you want to see it: http://csdailyphoto.blogspot.com/2011/04/denver-art-museum.html )

  8. The cloud formations are gorgeous as are the mixture of colors. 60 degrees F doesn't sound bad to me. It's 48 degrees here and I think thats pretty nice too!

  9. @Anne. "we are in the middle of a snow storm...but it is absolutely beautiful looking out at it." Exactly! I like it when it snows too!

@Jeff "About the lovers in the photo: it looks like she is...experiencing and celebrating an...event!" I knew you would notice that Jeff ;-))

@Petrea "January 1st for the Rose Parade." What is the ROse parade?! I'm sure I'll see it on PDP (I mean PasadenaDailyPhoto!)

@Carlos "How are things going against the skyscrapers the Mayor wants to build in Paris?" Well I think it's still in the pipe. But they won't be in the middle of Paris. Nothing to worry about!

@Kim ". So much to see in this post." Yes even though it's very simple.

@Tamera "Interestingly, I blogged about an artwork by Lawrence Weiner last April." Just saw you post. Interesting; Lawrence is definitely into words!

@Martin "We my not have the temperatures but at least we have sun.." True! At least at 1:30 pm when I looked at your webcam! ;-)) I have to go there once in my life!

@Kristie What?! It's warmer in Paris than in Dallas (I mean Lewisville!) Hard to believe!

  10. Eric, the Rose Parade (or Tournament of Roses) has taken place in Pasadena every year since 1890. It happens on January 1st unless that day falls on a Sunday, then the parade takes place on the 2nd. It's huge, with floats, bands, horses, and all sorts of performers. Every float is decorated with flowers and plants only--no paint, no plastic--only flowers. The parade is famous in the States (but not in France!).
