Sun deck

When you want to sit in the sun in the middle of Paris, you generally have to look for a garden and a bench (except in the Tuileries or Luxembourg gardens, where they also have chairs). Well, I've found the only place in Paris (to my knowledge!) when you can sit in a chair and watch the Parisian world go by... Where is it? In front of the Gare Saint Lazare, probably the most urban spot in the whole city!! Needless to say that these chairs are strongly attached to the pavement...

  1. Nice that you actually have a sun. It's been missing for most of the year in Haninge.

  4. Wonderful! Is it new? (The chairs, I mean. I know the Gare has been there a while...)

    1. Yes, pretty new. It's the first time I noticed it.

  5. The layout of these seats doesn't appear to be very couple friendly. It's a sort of offline singles site.
Anyway I like nothing better than sitting watching the Parisian world go by especially watching people trying to move these seats around not realising that they are fixed to the ground. :-)

    1. True! I bet they don't want the people to stay too long...

  6. Excellent idea! Here in NYC, they've narrowed the street in some places to create pedestrian "islands" with tables and chairs (not bolted down though).

    1. Not bolted?! Wow, here the chairs would be stolen overnight!

  7. I went to google maps and I guess that is the corner of Rue de Rome and Rue Saint Lazare at Gabriel Peri Pl. It appears to be a smallish open space, in google street view it looks like there is a good deal of motorcycle parking, but put plenty of space for people. Enjoy looking at the various squares and open spaces of Paris, Place du Tertre is one of my favorites and I was surprised to find as I walked around with google street view is on the hill behind the Sacre Coeur, another favorite photo you took I don't want to ignore is Fontaine Saint Michel, I mean what a beautiful space and building. Maybe it could use a few chairs too, or would that be too much?
