Everlasting Flowers

I know artificial flowers have a bad reputation: they look tacky, they don't smell and they catch dust... But these ones are really different. They come from the window shop of the Boulevard Malesherbes outlet of SIA Decoration, a company created by Sonja Ingegerd Andersson in 1963 in the South of Sweden. She started by making paper flowers and designing printed fabrics that she displayed in her garden for her friends... and now SIA is almost everywhere in the world!

  3. Nice composition with the 3 vases and window (winter) in the background and looking up to the blue sky. A difficult subject well done. The real ones will be up soon!

  4. Interesting. I've never heard of SIA, nor of paper flowers. They look very pretty.

  5. I have not heard of SIA also, maybe it hasn't reach this side of the world yet...but those flowers look amazing. Are those really paper flowers? So she also make the paper she uses to make those flowers?

  6. It's just a great photo - the window frame looks like a picture frame and at first I thought how interesting that it was real-looking fake flowers framed to create art. Then I realised it's a window and that's the sky and the outside world...so you can make all sorts of references to man-made vs nature, real vs fake... - well done again Eric!

  7. Artificial flowers have come a long way! I have some at home, as a matter of fact. My mother gave them to me when I was in Paris as a sort of joke, but the colors are nice so I kept them. Besides, it was the only kind of flowers (artificial) I could pass through custom without getting in trouble.

(Buzz girl: thank you for your recent comment; I started to write you back but got really busy. At some point, you should get an email back in the near future. Sorry about the delay! :D)

  8. Very nice tulips -and composition-, indeed, Eric.
If you are interested in artificial flowers, may I advertise this very traditionnal shop in the VIIIth arrondissement (corner of Bld haussmann and square Louis XVI -more Parisian you cannot find) : Trousselier. They make silk flowers since 1877 ! I guess you should also appreciate their windows.

  10. Eric....I've been by this shop several times, but never went inside. Are the flowers as expensive as they are beautiful?

  11. You captured a great shot. And the flowers are gorgeous and look "almost" real.
    But....the scent is missing.

Debise the store is located at the begining of Boulevard Malesherbes (N°3 to 5).

And yes Michael there are a little expensive but what is beautiful is often expensive...

  15. Nice post, Eric. I really like those flowers and I can see why her business is blooming. I don't usually like artificial flowers, but these are more artistic than artificial looking!
