Turning the 70's into the "10's"

I took this photo on the Front de Seine (Seine left embankment), in the 15th arrondissement, in the west of Paris. These red shapes belong to a skyscraper and are typical of what architects did in the 70s (the Front de Seine was built between 1967 and 1979). This area is now totally passé and there is a renewal project underway (delivery date 2009/10) with , as usual, a lot of controversy. If you speak French - and are interested in this story - do watch this video and/or pay a visit to this site. You can even take part in a forum about Paris architecture.

  1. Great photo, Eric!

BTW, the "renewal project" link isn't working.

    :) Have a good weekend!

  2. Wow, that building should be preserved as a cultural icon of the '70s! There is a building in Pittsburgh, the Alcoa building, I think, that has the same general design, but it's silver, not red. I have to go see this one. Thanks Eric.

  3. With the street light, it looks like something from War of the Worlds or another sci-fi flick.

  4. What a great shot and unusual photo. Even though I rented an apartment in the 15th, I can't recall this building and now wonder how on earth I missed it!

  7. I really like this picture , it looks something like an illusion more than a building.
