A parisian loft

Call me lucky if you want but this is where I spent some time this morning - and yes it was work! This swimming pool belongs to an amazing loft, located in the Bastille area (rue de la Roquette) that companies can rent on a day to day basis (this morning it was Samsung who used it to present its latest camera models). There are not many lofts in Paris but they are very much in demand and therefore very expensive. If you want to have a look at some of them do visit this great site.

  2. Where do I apply for this job Eric???

  3. I love the site. I only need a cool million euros or so to live in style in Paris (actually cheaper and much nicer than lofts in Los Angeles). I'm full of hope.

  4. I love lofts! This one looks superb. I adore swimming too so i really wish i could have tagged along to this invitation, perhaps in your bag (unlikely since Monica and i have eaten quite a bit of chocolate recently). Great shot, Eric. Tell us, were you in your trunks ;) or hovering your camera just above the water? Did you buy a new camera you lucky thing (i so want to update mine to a Canon EOS 400)? Tell us more. Mmmm lofts...

  5. What IS your present camera, Eric and what do you think of the Canon i mention?

  6. Ca fait vraiment envie! Dis-donc, le 11eme il a l'air d'avoir beaucoup changé ces dernières années!

  7. Lynn, I think Eric's current camera is a Kyocera M410R. That's what his profile informs.

I don't think they would let us swim in that wonderful pool... by now the word in Paris is "those 2 girls are trouble!"

  8. How jealous am I of that loft! And don't forget Monica, I if I were to join you and lynn it'd be triple trouble!

  9. Soosha I'm sure it would! And even more fun too!!

  10. I think the photographer at the opposite end of the pool has a better view. Did the little mermaid swim your way to bask in the attention of your camera?

  11. As I look out my window to the parking lot below, listening to the obsessive leak of my kitchen faucet, I am insanely jealous.

    Simply lovely.

  12. Did you take a dip in the pool? If you did, were you wearing a speedo or a swimming truck?

    ReplyDelete
  13. LOL! I'm not sure if it's funnier to imagine Eric in a speedo or in a swimming "truck" as ming's question asks. This would be such a dream to live in, but I can hear myself asking, "what about the up-keep?" Then I would reply, "If I could afford this than I could afford to hire someone to do the up-keep!"

  14. Jeff and phx-cdg - it would be great to meet up if I can. Could you email me (see my profile) so that I know exactly when you are here? I can't keep up with the blog posts although it seems that Jeff is here on the 26th.

  15. OMG, this loft is insane! Imagine the parties we would have... The other lofts in the link are incredible, too!

  16. Yes i saw that Monica but i felt sure he once mentioned he'd bought a new one. I could just see us all swimming around in that pool, holding our cameras high above the water! We'd have to ban underwater cameras though as Michael & I still cannot find our swimsuit & trunks lol

  17. Tomate : le 11eme il a l'air d'avoir beaucoup changé ces dernières années!
Not only le 11ème. For exampl you can find scandalously chic Web Tycoons' appartments in once popular areas such as le Fbg Montmartre…

  18. I imagined you, Eric, in swimming trucks. Great way to keep dry. LOL The speedo look is another matter. If you posted a picture of yourself in a Speedo, all the women would immediately be banging at your door. They can't deal with such pulchritude so you better not. Love the pool shot.

  19. jeaulous gg you made me giggle! I´m in the office now, downtown, seeing gray buildings from my window. How jealous do you thik I am?!!!

Lynn I had forgoten about the swimsuit issue...!

  20. Wow! That pool is amazing. Thanks for the link to that site. Maybe if I win the lottery some day....

  21. Oh goodness! I finally have a chance to just sit and read all the comments and now I'm going to have a hard time leaving! At least I'll be taking a hearty laugh with me into the cold, gray, overcast day.

Eric, PLEASE tell me you don't wear banana hammocks! I don't care how good looking a man is, Speedos should be outlawed! *shivers at the childhood memory of a very large man looking like Hulk Hogan wearing speedos at the public pool*

I'm loving the image of all of us with our cameras held above our heads in the pool, everyone trying to get good shots of everyone else holding their cameras up. I'm sorry, though. I wouldn't be able to resist snapping a few under water photos. I don't have a strong enough will power to tell me "No no, that would be inappropriate!" Where did I put my waterproof digital camera...?

*sigh* Gotta go. Such a yucky day and so much running around to do.

  22. lol Soosh, as it's you photographing underwater then i'll just have to don a handkerchief. I'll hand a banana skin to Michael shall i? I reckon Eric wears swim shorts. Let's challenge him to answer, he's so elusive these days. Eric: speedos or shorts? I'll be looking at the answer through my fingers...

    ReplyDelete
  23. this is AMAZING!! I kind of wish i worked for Samsung right now...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lynn and Soosh, I think we could rent loft #2 from the site link (as if) and have our own place there, in case they don´t allow us at this wonderful pool flat. We could throw a big party there, spread the news, and pretty soon the coolest people in Paris would be dying to join us in our cool loft!
Only problem is to take any photographs under water we would have to fill up a bathtub, cause that´s probably the nearest we´ll get to a pool.

I wonder if Eric is angry with us his fans, he´s been very elusive indeed lately..

    ReplyDelete
  25. he has... Monica i think that's the most fab idea! Oooooh let's! A bathtub is okay, we can take some fun photos in that! Parisians would be fighting each other for an invitation perhaps, just imagine... LOL it would be so decadent, great wine, delicious soft drinks, divine food to pick at, dishes of chocolates of COURSE!!! mmmm....

    ReplyDelete
  26. ooh yes definitely. Not too shabby for Monica & Lynn... lol! Wonder what Michael & Eric think of our idea?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm very scared....

If I jump in, all the water will come out of the pool!

    ReplyDelete
  28. We'll all jump in together and make a huge splash in Paris!

Don't be scared, Michael...WE'LL look after you... lol! Just hang on to those trunks as the water attempts to drag them from you. Yes, it'll be the water's fault. The water.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Enlarge the photo: the chappie on the left looks as if he is cheerfully wrestling with an alien with the intent of drowning it perhaps. Or is it me?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah Michael no worries about bodily bits, we won´t be able to see much anyway... oh I forgot to mention, it´s a candle light party, all very smooth.. maybe some jazz playing in the background... everything seems interesting in the dark don´t you think?!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. LOL Lynn - it does look a bit like an alien! And what about la femme in the water? Is she flashing le monsieur?? The position of her hands suggest that she is up to something naughty! If so, Eric was definitely on the wrong end of the pool!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi Eric, you really were VERY lucky. Looks like a great pool. Great shot! Greetings from newcomer Toruń DP!

    ReplyDelete
  33. A swimming pool in the, LOFT Eric!!
Gosh, I hope it doesn't leak.... otherwise the people in the aprtments below might receive an unexpected shower!

    ReplyDelete
  34. J'aime beaucoups les lofts. Yeah, a few euros would come in handy: those apartments look really nice.

Michael, sorry, I clicked on your photo but there is no e-mail address. How do I reach you? Ok, ok, I have not intention of becoming a blogger, so just make it easy... Yes, we'll arrive 26th, leave 29th.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm on my way to buy a California-Lottery, Super-LOTTO ticket...!!! If I win, I'll buy one of these and throw a BIG PDP Soiree!! Oh la la la!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jeff and PHX-CDG, I think I've solved the problem. You can go here to get in touch.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hey, Kpgallant, that's a great idea: Powerball here I come.
    Michael, thanks, message sent.
Tall Gary: I agree the other end looks more fun.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Monica - don't think Michael'd be too impressed by your "don't worry about bodily bits, we wouldn't be able to see much anyway" oops....

Hi Glenn! Glad to see you here. Have a swim!

Pont Girl: Yes that photographer's up to no good i reckon; "Okay luvvie, lift your arms up now, no let the top just float in the water, it's fine. Publish? Nah don't worry about that luv. No. Just a bit of fun luv, won't go anywhere (not much). You can have a copy - just for you. And ... me.

Now, whatever you do, don't turn around because there's some bloke at the end of the pool just hoping that you do and once he's got the picture, i don't stand a chance."

  39. wow - last year i lived on a street adjacent to rue de la roquette and would never have guessed such a magnificant loft was steps away from me!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I was just wondering... I've had problems in the past when someone leaving a tap running in an apartment above has wreaked havoc.....

    ReplyDelete
  41. Even though it's indoors, it's looking very glam...and thus, I want to rent it!

    ReplyDelete
  42. wow. this is beautiful. there's no such pool in the loft i could find here.
