Street Performance
No, this young lady is not - totally - crazy! She's just part of a street performance that I attended at Metro Edgard Quinet (14th arrondissement) today. The principle is simple: each of these artists pretends to be a "normal" passer by until they start acting weird (see here someone fishing in a metro entrance or kissing the sidewalk!)... Needless to say that the audience - well the actual normal passers by - is quite puzzled. If you're interested, they have a web site (in French).
Discuss Paris events and much more in the brand new PDP forum.

I have a degree in theatre, and there is NO WAY you'd get my mouth on some random pole. Ewww!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! (I wonder if it would work as well in New York or San Francisco, though - so many people are acting weird on a daily basis here ;) - but it'd sure be a lot of fun to find out :)
ReplyDelete(FYI, I don't know if it's just me but it's been really hard to load your blog for the past few days Eric.)
This would be weird. I'm not sure I'd want to put my mouth on that pole either. There must have been alot of hands on that pole.
ReplyDeleteVery, very, strange!

Aside from the potential lack of clenliness involved, I think these performances would be fun/fun to see!
ReplyDeleteOh!

Buzzgirl, I sure that with a little training AND motivation you'd do it LOL.
Tomate, I know same here it takes ages before the photos appear. A friend of mine offered to transfer me on Wordpress but I don't know...
It's one thing to bite a Pole, but one should never try to bite an Australian !!
ReplyDeleteShe must be very hungry ;-) Well, that's street art.
ReplyDeletewow what a great idea just eating poles. just the best way to get the attention of the public
ReplyDeleteNot sure I appreciate this kind of art. It is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteJ'adore ton blog. Merci!
Eric: Hmm.. Wordpress, I don't know about that either. I think Wordpress is even slower.
ReplyDeleteYou could ask Arnaud at
http://siliconvalleyfrogs.com/
and Christophe at
http://adproject.free.fr/wordpress/
what they think about WordPress, but I can tell you from experience that it does take forever to load their blogs most of the time, and neither one of them is loaded with photos, gadgets, or whatever, so I don' t know.
Quelle yikes! I hoped she sprayed some anti-bacterial gel on the pole before she ate it!!
ReplyDeleteOh My Gawd...I love this!! Paris is becoming more like SAN FRANCISCO everyday!! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteBut SF will never be as beautiful, as interesting or as cultured as Paris! Thank Gawd we have Paris...ehhh??? ;-)
ReplyDeleteTo paraphrase Steve Martin: comedy is not sanitary.
ReplyDeleteStreet bizarre theater can be fun, or it can be a bore. I like the fishing. Biting the pole is one thing, but the dress is the kicker. And, folks, you think kissing concrete is any cleaner? Here, puppy...
It looks so funny, though ZERO hygiene
ReplyDeletegood idea to mention this street theatre. I had the chance to see them a lot since the end of April (I live very close to this metro station) and they surprised me a lot doing things you do not expect in the public space. For instance I remember they played a lot on the stairs of the metro entrance by slowly crawling on them. Other troups played on food by putting a lot of salads all around the streets during the Wednesday morning street market, which made some people understand this to be an action done by some environmentalist activists !!!
ReplyDeleteAnyway this is a thing that should take place more in every city because these kind of action makes you think differently on how you live a city, what you can do in a public space (it makes you think of what you think is normal, deviant...) which is very important nowadays...
was it the doctor's prescription for her iron deficiency?
ReplyDeletehaha...
So, she isn't that hungry then?
