Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance

Some of you will think I'm late on the blue theme day, but the truth is that I hesitated between yesterday's photo and this one. It's a shot I took recently during a demonstration for Falun Dafa (a Chinese "mind and body cultivation" movement) that is apparently banned in China. When I took this photo I changed - by mistake - one of the settings of my camera and that is how this photo ended up, er.., blue! I kinda like it this way, it looks as if was taken in the morning in a very peaceful moment (the Falun Dafa effect?).

  1. Wow...more beautiful bleus!! And la Tour Eiffel..tomate will be happy!

They protest outside the Chinese Consulate in SF[Falun-Gong]everyday. I don't know if it is the same, but I assume it is, or close.

I thought maybe we would see a famous tomb today..being "All Soul's Day"...I prefer the grande dame..merci!

  3. I love it when I find I have unknowingly pressed a random setting and captured something special. You certainly did with this!

  4. Eric - thank you for your kind comment on my blue theme day post. Now I am thinking about what do do with the December 1 bridge theme. A photo of just a, well, bridge would never do.

All digital photographers make mistakes with the settings of our complicated cameras and sometimes that is how we get our best pictures. I wish I could learn the art of screwing up on purpose.

  5. I love the effect. What a cool shot Eric. I'm back from my summer break and catching up on everyone's DP's. Hope you are doing well.

  6. Looks just great, Eric. What an awful choice you had to make yesterday, they are both good, though i prefer this one. Must be the Tower...

  7. I think you made the right choice, Eric.
Although I love the themes (social, political, blue, Tour Eiffer, etc) in this photo, I think the other one is more appropriate simply because there was no special "blue" effect :)

Encore merci pour ton aide concernant l'acces au portail et aux rubriques du forum.

  11. It's great in blue!
By the way, I just heard on the news, that they are selling a piece of the Eiffel Tower. Some stairs used by Gustave Eiffel. Is that true?

  12. Fredrik this is interesting news! Can we all buy a stair? That would be a good idea wouldn't it. I'll have one of the lower ones.

  13. You're sounding very American Eric, what with your 'kinda' and 'fall' the other day. I'm not sure i approve, you're closer to me than to them, what's going on? Or should i say what's going down? lol.

  15. Hi Eric,

Waiting for my flight today for the South of France, I had a look to my favorite blog and was suddenly afraid for being late because of the clock on PDP !! Luckily, I realized pretty soon that was still Paris summer hour !! Sorry if this is a disappointing new, but we (french at least) have recently turned to winter time ;)

Thanks a lot for your wonderful daily work ! I like it very much and every of your fans' comments !

Have everyone a very happy week-end ! Hope I'm going to meet blue sky in the south, because it is really not the case in Paris for a couple of days ...

  16. Fun shot, Eric.

(Eek, I'm forgetting all of the tiny bit of French I knew. The increase in French comments reminds me that I need to start studying again!)

  17. Jeff....Buy this book...it will help.

French DeMystified...also for people who have English as their first language..English Grammar for Students of French..make sure you get the 5th Edition. They are both excellent supplements to any French course you may be taking. Bon Chance!!

  18. Merci, Tonton, I'll check out the books in a bookstore. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get good French courses here. I tried the AF chapter and their courses are horrible and insulting, so I gave up. Time for more continuing ed, I guess.

    Bon weekend, tout le monde.

  19. Sorry Jeff...Bonne Chance!! Ahemmm..also, buy the books on line. You'll get a better deal...where do you live?? The AF should be a good resource for classes. Try Craigslist under the Services/Lessons section..I guess that only works if you are near a big city though.

  20. Tonton, the "dead related" photo was for today - well tomorrow...

I've got to say , my new camera is so sophisticated that I mess up quite often. For the better or the worse!

    I am Thien, thanx.

No Problem Laurent, actually these past few days I had a lot of "Service après vente" to do with various bloggers from the community.

What??? THey are selling the Eiffel Tower - OK, pieces, but still...
Actually I'm surprised because they did this several years ago already when they redid some part of the structure, but I did not hear about it this time. Where did you hear this Fredrik?

LOL Lynn. You're right... And though I first learned my English in England, but that was a long time ago...

That's nice to hear Anonymous. Did you check it on a hand held device? How does it show?? I hear the weather is nice in the South at the moment.

Tonton, Jeff, I have what you need if you want to improve your French. She a great teacher: see here
