Sleeping...

It's 12:30 am here and in a few minutes that is what I'm going to look like in my bed (I'm talking about the sleeping bit...). I had a very nice dinner out in a restaurant called Le Bistrot de Paris, where, once again I had too much wine and food (I'm definitely under the influence of the British friends who are currently visiting me this weekend!). Anyway, on the way out I came across this sculpture in gallery called Chaulet in rue de Baune (7th arrondissement). I thought you'd like it too. Have a resting Sunday.

  8. Eric actss the innocent one but he knows when he's starting something. He posts it just to get us started, don't you, Eric? He's a beautiful sculpture. I mean *it's* beautiful...you know what I mean.

Lovely play of light and shadows, too.

Did you enter the gallery on the way out of the Bistro, Eric? Or was this handsome gent seated in the window? Brrrr.

  13. Way to go, Lily—don't even want to think about what you'll add to the crown (although I'm sure Lynn has a suggestion).
Eric -- love the play of light and shadow here—and that's all I'll say (except that this guy has huge hands (channeling David perhaps?).

  14. I shall try to maintain my dignity.

The shadows, the angles, the definition are all circumspect of an era . . . . awwwwww hell, he's HOT!

    Thanks Mr. T!

    Tut tut...You are so provocative...
Fancy publishing a photo like that late at night with our darling Lynn waiting for your blog all by yourself?

Anyway... it is a great photo and in my opinion better than the actual sculpture.

    Lynn
It can't be very big... their sizes is always smaller than we like...sculptures I mean...

  22. Eric, do you mean you sleep in the nude?!

Love the photo, love the sculpture. What is really intriguing though is the fact that you are now a wine drinker!!! I remember the days our dear Eric was the only one sober here, trying to put some order in this crazy box of comments...

  23. Rose that was hilarious!
Monica, he must mean that. Then again....don't we all? :0

  25. Hello Eric! May I request for a nice photo of Champs Elysees all lit up? :) I miss Paris so much!!

  26. The above comments about your outstanding photo reminds me of a newspaper article about the reaction of people to a new statue, 3 meters tall, of a nude man on one of the main street corners in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. It is only slightly abstract, and it stands on a little pedestal, so you can imagine what is at eye level.

The newspaper asked a woman passerby what she thought of the statute and she studied it carefully and responded that the man's feet were a little too large.

After reading to comments of your readers, maybe Sharon of Phoenix Daily Photo will post a photo of that statue.

  27. Hmmmm,I am curious as to what statue that is in PHX?????? I know I always take my out of town friends to the large statue of the cowboy in downtown Scottsdale and position my female friends between his open legs, so their heads fit neatly under his ample American crotch. What they do with their hands is up to them when I take their picture. These women have been very creative over the years.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Did you hear that Lynn?
The cowboy in Phoenix has big feet... and we do know a thing or two about big feet, don't we :)?
A shame it is just a statue...

Did you get Eric's answer in a private message? lol

  30. Strange light...Where does it come from? Did you have a flashlight Eric?! It looks like a museum after the closure, I like it...
If you look attentively, his posture is absolutely awful to sleep! Totally uncomfortable. But he seems so peaceful.

  31. Yes Rose, I got it. How interesting PHx!
    Yep it's well known.
    Big feet = ..........Big shoes.

  32. I love Paris and I have enjoyed visiting your blog over the past months. It's so nice to click on and see a picture from this beloved city from a native's eyes.

    Thank You!

  33. The statue is so finely taken, but the converstaion revolving around it is just too funny.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ah...to be at peace! Hope you do have a restful Sunday,Eric.

    Conga-playing Carrie :-) ...I left a reply for you on yesterday's post.

  36. I swear Eric, everytime I stop by I get sucked into a discussion that I have no business in. I tried to walk away from this one but no...... Let me just say I am damn sorry I missed this guy on my trip a few weeks ago. Oh and I think he looks worn out! LOL

  37. >Lynn "Oh Eric, you will look like this in your bed? Now, now, you KNEW we'd have to comment on that, didn't you..." Well, to be honest, it did cross my mind ;) The sculpture is the size of a man. All proportions seem to have been well kept!!

    >Petrea "Eric acts the innocent one but he knows when he's starting something. He posts it just to get us started, don't you, Eric? " I confess, yes! I did not enter the gallery cause it was closed (around 11 PM).

    > PHX. EZE, er... where is that?

    > Alexa "(except that this guy has huge hands". And you know what they say about guys with huge hands, Right? Yes, that's it, that it hurts when they shake hand with you...

    > Suzy "Thanks Mr. T!" You're welcome, I know how to please my audience!

    > Maria ""how can you eat out so much and still have that six pack" You can't!

    > Michael "Love the light on his face. Almost spiritual" True. Thanks to the lighting I suppose.

    > Rose "Tut tut...You are so provocative.. Am I really??

    > Monica "Eric, do you mean you sleep in the nude?!" Of course! What did you think, that I slept in pajamas?!

    > Mrs T.I will take such a photo, don't worry ;))

    > David "After reading to comments of your readers, maybe Sharon of Phoenix Daily Photo will post a photo of that statue." Hummm I'll be checking.

    > Guille. It's a natural light. I had your SMS BTW, I'd love to come to the auction on Monday evening, I don't think I'll able to. I'll call you.

    > You're welcome Kimberly

    > Virginia "Oh and I think he looks worn out! LOL" Well, you know, with a body like that he must be kept busy...

  38. Virginia
    You so funny...
You should comment everytime... your business or not!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Must be kept busy.... gosh my mind's gone into overdrive! The sculpture is the size of a man. I can just imagine ladies drinking perhaps one wine too many in the restaurant and not being able to resist sitting on his lap. Me? No, no, no..... ;0

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh, Lynn, and Lily, and PHX, and Eric -- LOL - how amusing!! Poor guy.... he's not even awake to hear all the adulation!

PHX where is EZE? Reminds me of a true LA story: we have an unemployment office here in town with an address on Easy Street!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Rose if I got in on all this everytime I would get in way too much trouble and Eric might banish my blog for good!

And now we all know what Eric does and does not sleep in. Was this a case of too much information??? And will any of us be able to forget it? I think not.

It's past time for me to leave!
    Bonsoir

  42. Oh,no, Virginia - not TMI - you remember the old children's story of the King's New Clothes, don't you? Why, none of us would want to be the one who wasn't in the know about Roi Eric!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. No not TMI. We dine gratefully on the crumbs from Eric's table of information morsels, here.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Rose, Eric answered my question right here and let everybody know that no, he does not sleep in PJ's!!!

That's too much information for Lynn's imagination...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Le Roi rules , with or without pajamas, oui? I can handle that.
    V

    ReplyDelete
  46. "Handle that," Virginia? Handle what, exactly? (Heh. You don't have to answer that.)

Eric, now you've gone and put images in my head. Naughty!

  47. I like the lighting and the texture of the stone. Good shot!

  48. Nothing like a good sculpture to get the blood boiling is there Eric?
I posted some sculpture too on the weekend. :)

    Great photo, Eric.
