Jeu de jambes

I know I could have taken this photo anywhere, but I swear these are Parisian legs! I love the general atmosphere of this photo and the light and shadow atmosphere. That's all! [Note to the people in Sydney who want to join a little PDP gathering while I'm there.]

  1. It's b&w and brilliant! I would know these are Parisian legs even if you didn't tell me.

  2. Seriously, Eric—your "eye" gets better all the time.

  3. Congratulations Alexa..GF... Where is everyone?

Eric, very unique photo. Only you would have thought of it...Legs going in all directions!

  4. Gramma Ann -- it's Friday night and they're probably all out on the town. So what's our problem?

  5. I like it, too. Not B&W though, Alexa. Click on it. There's a bit of blue jean in the picture. The whole thing has its own natural greyscale.

I don't think I'd have known it was Paris, but I would have known it wasn't Los Angeles. Everyone's so casual here, and these people are well dressed!

  6. You're right, Petrea. That's even better—b&w that isn't.

  7. I thought it was B&W at first, too. What a gorgeous shot either way.

Congrats on GF, Alexa ... bonne chance not snagging the stockings when you pull them over the crown.

  8. Alexa~~My Friday nights on the town ended many years ago...

  9. Of course it's Paris. It's obviously at the intersection of rue Reamur and rue Sebastopol. I'd recognize it anytime!

  10. I beg to differ Jeff, these people seem to be in a rush as if les soldes were taking place. I'd say it is Rue Saint-Denis. ;)

  11. Spectacular shot and composition Eric!! I think I recognize those boots!! Love it!!

  12. Hey those boots are made for walking and that's just what they'll do. :-) Alexa, they're walking to present you with the GF crown. Cheers and good weekend!

  13. Shell -- I'll take the boots instead!

Gramma Ann -- I like staying in on Friday night, especially after a tough week at work (but I did get home at 4 am last Sunday)

Jeff and From Cali -- It's clearly the intersection where blvd. Montmarte, blvd. Poissonniere, rue du Faubourg Montmartre, and rue Montmartre all meet!
(and perhaps Eric will tell us where he actually took this shot)

  14. Gramma Ann...how are you? Not out dancing on a Friday night? What gives? LOL

  15. Hey Alexa...wazzup in NYC these days? Has Spring decided to arrive yet or is it on vacation?

  16. It's a bit eery to me. Interesting, but eery.

  17. Great, totally original and creative shot!

But there is no dog poop and no cigarette butt and no garbage... are you sure it is really Paris ? ;)

  18. Beautiful photo; I like shots like these.

Drop by to have a glass of wine (see my photo!) on my one-year anniversary today.

  19. LOL, Tomate Farcie.

But Alexa, stockings and boots need not be mutually exclusive ... think what you could do with them on a Friday night.

Heading your way now, Bibi. Happy anniversary to you!

  20. I think I can just about make out eleven legs (or am I kidding myself?) which makes it 'legs eleven'!
For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, in the UK the slang used by bingo callers for the number 11 is 'lovely legs eleven' similarly, the number 88 is 'two fat ladies' etc.
Do they use the same slang in the US?

  21. he he Drummond I thought the same thing. What an interesting photo - I wonder where they were all going and if they were in the same group or just randomly crossing at the same time? Eric always makes us think.

  22. Lynn, great minds think alike - or is it the other one?

  23. A modern work. Great image. Congratulations.

  24. I love photos like this.
It makes me wonder who they are, where were they going...
    So so mysterious!

  26. I know these people. Two of the men are both in love with the woman wearing the boots. Tonight she tells them her heart belongs to someone else. Someone who left her many years ago and she is waiting for him to return.

So pretty and I love how there are only two feet totally off of the ground. That aspect really adds a nice movement to the photo.

  27. Petrea is right - if that was Los Angeles, there would be some tanned bare legs and at least one pair of flipflops. Not a bad thing when other folks have snow in the forecast.

  28. Very Parisian! Mostly black...just how I imagined legs in Paris..not that I have too often!

  29. Sitting on the footpath, he raised his camera gently, focused on the crosswalk and patiently waited for the street light to change.

The well and warmly dressed Parisians, shading their eyes from the glare of the morning sun as they waited for the change of colour from red to green, barely noticed the photographer.

En masse and boldly stepping forward, en route to their offices, they also didn't notice the master stealthily depress his finger, taking a photo that would appear on Paris Daily Photo and be seen by people all over the globe.

Even if they had, they would never have guessed that he was actually photographing a splendid set of legs, creating a play of light and shadow that only an artist's eye could appreciate.

    Beautifully shot Eric. xx Mme
