Enough food on this blog! The weather has been pretty bad in Paris lately (hence the PDP picnic that I had to throw indoor) but this time meteorologists are positive: the sun is on its way! To celebrate I photographed a typical summer scene ;). You think I took this photo from above right? Not at all. It's actually a window display at Le BHV, the big department store near the town hall (you can see a little reflexionof the sky in the upper right corner). The whole set is vertical. Pretty cool I must say.

Hey, the weather just got nice today here, so don't feel bad. No beach time yet, though.
ReplyDeleteAnd, hey: the woman in the window definitely has a Golden Finger!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun picture, although our picnicker looks as though she has jaundice, no?
ReplyDeleteGolden finger, jaundice - BWAH! Too funny.
ReplyDeleteGreat window find, Eric! I saw loads of great window displays like this in Paris which I would have loved to photograph, but I was too shy!!
It is a lovely display...except....the poor girl has no hair...
ReplyDeleteCongrats Jeff GF....
I am in Florida and it has been raining here for the past 4 or 5 days. I hope the sun returns to us and Paris soon!
ReplyDeleteMarvellous! How sunny. It's awful here too. Wind, rain, everything but the sun.
ReplyDeleteHey Jeff GF!
ReplyDeleteThat window display makes such a nicely composed photo. I wonder if the store knows it's gone global via your blog?
ReplyDeletePS - she has quite a tan!!
I hope it will still there on Wed. I'll be taking my husband into his first Paris trip and I think I am more excited than him!!! It is his first visit to France, and the first time I won't be alone in Paris, after a number of trips. Lots of walking are waiting for me!!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love store windows. I know that the designers take great pains in their creations and this one is a winner. I hope you get the sunny weather. It's finally raining a lot in Tampa, Florida.
ReplyDeleteVicky, I'm sure your hubby will love Paris as long as he likes walking! I miss it already.
ReplyDeleteMy GF crown will consist of radiant sunshine. I'll leave the straw hat to Mlle. Goldfinger.
hahaha cool!
ReplyDeleteJ'adore BHV! Seriously one of my favorite stops in Paris. I have a few mis-matched knobs for my kitchen cabinets that I bought there (cabinet knobs are one of my favorite souvenirs when I travel), and I also found my brilliant multi-plug converter there. It's not a tourist trap -- it's the kind of place that if I can navigate it and ask for & get what I want I feel like I've really spent an hour being a Parisian.
ReplyDeleteDidn't she make a guest appearance on The Simpsons?
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Reminds me of a doll house; the deck out back :)
ReplyDeleteOH,WOW......................................
ReplyDeleteOH' MOM.......................................
Just reflecting on summer ;-)
Very very awesome!
ReplyDeleteActually, I think that ET Suzy is GF, according to the rules, because she filled 2 full lines. Either way, I like your photo, Suzy!
ReplyDeleteNice photo, Eric—and I guess you'll show us the real thing when Paris Plage returns, right?
Even though the beach may be crowded it looks like she has plenty of space. Kind of gives a new meaning to room and board.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she has some tweezers in that beach bag for the slivers.
That head! I keep thinking that when she looks up we’ll see a face like this (but in Simpson-yellow as Brandon Darnell cleverly has it).
Alexa – But Jeff filled two full lines plus before anyone else even though the lines were in two different posts. The crown is his.
Eric, "enough food on this blog"...!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe... But obviously your model didn't have enough! She looks much too thin to be healthy!
But your photo is great, and perfectly in line with today's weather in Paris ;-)
Correcto, TG on GF!
ReplyDeleteI just arrived in CDG and am waiting and waiting for my room. I can attest to the beautiful sunny weather here so far at 9:35am.
That is what I call a tan!
ReplyDeleteGF Jeff - congrats !
ReplyDeleteYeah this is a pretty funny window display, very creative.
I love BHV, it's the real thing as Style Spy say.
PHX you're back in Paris - lucky you.
Or is this the smiling face that would greet us?
ReplyDeleteI love this photo Eric. Had you not pointed out that it was vertical, I would have thought that you were changing your famous Tenin shot from ground level to sky level.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and interesting shot. I love that color of yellow-gold. Hope the sun really does come out for you there as predicted.
ReplyDeleteI definitely thought it was from above. I guess the height of the torso can't be too high otherwise it might drop off!
ReplyDeleteBTW, Eric, are you planning to post something about "Looking for Eric"??
ReplyDelete;-)
As usual, the windows displays in Paris are very cool and creative.
ReplyDeleteHavaianas?? Is it a pair of orange Havaianas I see in the upper right corner of the picture?
PHX thanks for the weather forescat.
ReplyDeleteMake sure the sun keeps on shining there!
Vicky, by the look of it your trip will definetely be a delight! Hope your husband enjoy it and become addicted to Paris as the rest of us!
Very well caught.
ReplyDeleteWhat is she doing at underground level with her swimmer and her big hat if she wants to take a good sunbath?
Why do we often prefer complicated when could be simpler?must be French ! Yes, am French too;)
My wife likes BHV. In particular, she knows where the toilets are.
ReplyDeleteI always spend some time on every trip hanging around outside them.(that sounds so wrong)
Thinking about it, they could be my 'most visited' place in Paris, which is rather sad.
Anyway,in case you get caught short in Paris, they can be found in the childrens dept.(babies and toddlers), on the far right as you come off the escalator.
Now that's the sort of essential info that you don't always get in guide books.
Drummond you are SO funny!!
ReplyDeleteCan you allow me to be your number 1 fan?
Dear Anonyme - you can be my one and only fan!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Drummond, I am certainly not your only one fan but that makes me feel so good :) :) :) My screen computer is grateful to you as the main beneficiary of my smile...
ReplyDeleteBTW, I don't know if everyone here knows what BHV stands for ?
BHV means : Bazar de l'Hotel de Ville. You don't picture a big and nice Hotel de Ville, like the Paris Town Hall is, in a mess, do you?
... and a perfectly good hat goes to waste. All very cheerful looking, though. Yes, let's hope for plenty of fine, sunny days ahead.
ReplyDeleteColtrane ~ nice one!
ET Suzy ~ love your new profile pic!
If I announce that it's sunny in California, will I get a collective smack on the head?
ReplyDeleteThen I won't say it!
P.S. I love my new profile pic, too. Eric and I are BFFs, didn't you know? ;)
Love it! Photographing shop windows is one of my favorite things - often so graphic and fun! Often what magazine ads used to be.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE the food! Please don't stop - it is beautiful...and very French!
Looooooooove it!
ReplyDeleteoh la la!!!
Well...it's pretty hard to beat Baguettes and Radishes in my book[especially with sweet butter and coarse salt..]but Summer just might do it...Yayyyy!!!
ReplyDeleteIt really was a Paris Plaige(did I spell it correctly) day today. The Perfect picture!
ReplyDeleteThib: You and I are on the same page. I was also going to mention having seen the ads all over Paris for the movie "Looking for Eric". Then while walking back to the hotel on Rue St Jacques, I spotted the restaurant ERIC ET CIE!
How stupid of me. I never thought of Eric as a French name.
ITSI BITSI PETIT BIKINI
Great shot, Eric!
ReplyDeleteJeff -- SO sorry—TG is correct, of course, you are the rightful GF. Please allow me to polish your crown. Hope you had a great time in Venice, btw. I'm pretty sure you had a good time in Paris ;~}
Just went back & realized I missed PHX's quiz for the past few days, while I was in the country w/o the Internet. Zut alors!
Today was a taste of summer for us. It was absolutely lovely. I missed Spring and Summer so much!!
