Bye bye Paris...
That's it, it's too hot in Paris, I'm off for the day to Trouville! Well, it's true, I'm going to spend my day in Trouville, by the sea where it will probably be cooler, but not really for the good reasons. As some of you may remember, I have an old aunt there (96 years old!) and the news is not too good on this front. Anyway, let's focus on the photo! I took it at Gare Saint Lazare when I went to pick up my tickets. But right now I need to go to bed as I wake very early tomorrow, precisely to catch the train! (Sorry, I'm not to clear today, must be the heat ;-))

Sorry about your beloved aunt. I hope you can work in a bit of time to enjoy the ocean.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences, dear Eric. Be sure to show her your heart-warming smile.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous photo in honor of a gorgeous aunt.
I hope my nieces will be as devoted to me as you are to your aunt. Heartwarming.
ReplyDeleteHope everything is fine with you, Eric. Best wishes to all your nearest and dearest.
ReplyDeleteKeats
A beautiful shot despite the distraction of heat and worry. So sorry your trip isn't under better circumstances, still it will make a difference to your aunt to have you near.
ReplyDeleteenjoy Trouville!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your aunt appreciates having such a devoted nephew. Sorry you're not going to Trouville for a happier reason, but I hope you get a break from the heat at least.
ReplyDeleteMy regards to your aunt, Eric.
ReplyDeleteThere is something very poignant about this shot of the train and the fact that your aunt is on her own journey, perhaps soon. I am glad for you that you can be with her...it will mean so much to both of you.
ReplyDeleteI love the blurry silhouette in the foreground - a beautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteI hope your trip goes well. You are such a loving nephew Eric.
Well, I said the same two days ago :( I have just returned from a week stay in Paris (and Asterix Parc) and though happy to be home I am still sad to leave Paris behind.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eric, for I have seen several places that you have described and discovered for me!
Enjoy your Aunt and your family and Trouville with its good sea food in front of the sea. As much as they're enjoying you today.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a peaceful visit.
ReplyDeleteEmotive photo, Eric.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and English love to your dear Auntie xx I hope she is feeling not too bad today and that you spend a good day together. A visit from you is bound to have medicinal benefits! :)
Beautiful and somewhat melancholy shot. Seems you were truly inspired when you took it because of your current circumstances. I hope you can enjoy Trouville as well as time spent with your aunt. I'm sure your visit will lift her spirits. She's fortunate to have a nephew like you.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful visit with your Aunt and that she is feeling well enough to enjoy your visit. Enjoy the city by the sea today too. :)
ReplyDeleteStay cool!
I think it's interesting that by simply changing the words 'Bye bye' in the title to 'Hello', the emotional response to the same photo would be entirely different.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you didn't set your watch by that big station clock and missed your train!
I also hope that you find your aunt in good spirits.
...I hope your weekend will be priceless, in the sense that you will be with family....
ReplyDeleteBon voyage à tois, et bon chance à ta famille.
ReplyDeleteI saw Gare St. Lazare in Monet's painting several times, but finally saw it in person a couple years ago.
Enjoy your respite in Trouville...a lovely spot. Sorry about your Tatie, I understand as my own Papa[il a 88 ans]is not doing well either. It is hard to see those we love grow old and fail...desole'
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your aunt isn't doing well.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for her recovery and all the best to you and the rest of your family in this time of worry.
It's a great shot thougt, and it really makes me want to go far away on vacation.
Hope your trip gave your Aunt and family a nice ray of light. Hope too your father's health is good enough now after his hospital episode you told us lately? I know nobody who likes to see her/his parents growing old...
ReplyDeleteIn two days (Sunday), I'll say bye bye Paris in my turn for a little break. I need to keep back in touch with the world after all these months behind a computer at work! And I trust the sun to take care of me ;)
@Flore. Yes, like a lot of people, you will take the 14th of July week off! Good for you, you deserve it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your wishes and thoughts.
As I'd like to thank everyone for your nice and kind words. I don't want to mix my personal "problems" too much on this blog, as its main purpose is to show Paris, but sometimes I can't help sharing a little bit of my life ;-)
FYI, she was actually better than what I expected, but my sister told me it's really not always so.
@Drummond "I hope that you didn't set your watch by that big station clock and missed your train!" LOL. No I didn't not (you're such a clock spotter!!)
@Ella. You're very welcome. Sorry you had to leave, but... you'll be back!
Thank you very much Eric. You know you are my other sun.
ReplyDeleteAs I said to one of my colleague lately, I feel the sun on my skin like a caress.
Hello Eric,
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like the seaside to lift your spirits. Hope all goes well. Therese
