Love in the air

Besides jogging along the Seine, another favorite summer "sport" of a lot of people is... cuddling on a bench in a public garden. Don't go thinking this has any influence on the "baby season" (that is, the period of the year we, French, have the most babies). A study revealed today, that there is almost no more baby season, unlike 30 years ago... BTW I took this photo at the Luxembourg Gardens and I was afraid to point my camera at them. You never know, they might be an illegitimate couple!

  2. Makes me think right away of that Georges Brassens song, where he sings about "les amoureux qui se bécotent sur les bancs publics . . . en se fouettant pas mal du regard oblique." These amoureux obviously could care less about you and your camera, Eric! Hope they're legit, since they could be recognized by their clothing, I think.

  4. Amore! My husband once told me a story that it was illegal in one country to take photos of people in speeding in their cars because it was ruining too many marriage. I can't remember if it was Italy or France.

  6. Wow, a wonderful suggesting shot!!
I'm sure you didn't disturb them at all as they probably were alone in their world of love at this moment. How magical it is when your love is stronger than the rest of the world, isn't it?
I wonder what their story was looking like before this intense hug moment. How did they meet the first time? How long have they met themselves? What have they been doing before this encounter in Luxembourg gardens? Were they working? Are they lovers in vacation? Did he give her a phone call or did she? How long did they manage to stay together at this moment? etc, etc
Are they legitimate or not? Is it worse or better to be illegitimate?
What are they doing right now? Checking PDP? Sleeping? Making babies ? Lol! Wish them the best anyway :-)
Thank you Eric for this escaping shot!

  11. How sweet. The red Solo cup seems incongruous somehow. As if they must have been picknicking but there is nothing but the cup.

BTW: in the Tuileries there is a lovers chair made of wooden posts. It is very pretty!

  13. Love this photo, Eric, because it reminds me of my first date with my husband, 2 years and 9 months ago tomorrow. We met by the Luxembourg Gardens, felt the "coup de foudre", took a walk into the gardens, and next thing you know, we WERE that couple kissing on the park bench!

Our second wedding anniversary is next Tuesday!

  15. Public Display of Affection, it's disgusting ! I would never do that. LOL

They are really cute, I just hope they were in fact not illegitimate, Eric....

  16. Congrats, Bold Soul!! I dream of one day doing this with my husband, but as he is rather a reserved person, I doubt it! (Maybe a nice quick kiss though.)

    Eric, nice shot!

  17. Do you ever get permission from the people you photograph, to publish their photo? I was once told to carry around a little "permission form" to offer if someone sees you taking their picture. If they object then you really can't print it. Let me know what you do.

  22. I think the man in the photo looks like Michael! Would that be "illigitimate"?

Eric, maybe you should have used a zoom lens!

  26. LOL, I'm still laughing from your comments!

@JKG "Do you ever get permission from the people you photograph, to publish their photo? " No, that is why I very very very rarely show faces.

  27. How beautiful! How I wish I'd taken that shot Eric, you clever thing. Really lovely. I think they'd be delighted with it...provided of course...as you say. ;)

I sometimes wish you would ask them afterwards, so they could have the pleasure...

  28. phx-cdg if you are at the big circular fountain facing away from the Louvre, just go into the trees a few feet and it is to the right of the pathway!

P.S. by lovers chair I meant one of those that have the seats together but facing opposite directions, so when you sit in it with someone you can look at them still...I just realized I wasn't sure if that was clear, haha!
