Yeah! today is February 1st and it's a theme day! Today's theme is... Fountains and well, since I did not know what fountain to choose, I went especially for you to Beaubourg this morning to take a photo of this very famous Stravinsky Fountain that you probably saw if you came to Paris. Only I bet you haven't seen it from this point of you as it is rarely... frozen like it was this morning. ReplyDeleteI love this fountain. There are many machines in it, and several are often a little screwed up. One never knows which ones will be working, and which ones will not. I also love the little part of rue Saint Martin to the south (not north!) where you can sit at the Grizzli and watch families, kids on scooters, roller blades, and just all sorts of people walking by.

No shortage of fountains in Paris but this is one of my favorites - so colourful and creative!

ReplyDeleteLove it! Really great, colorful, unusual, a bit disturbing but so artistically well done! I used to spend a lot of time at the Beaubourg library when student and loved wandering in the aera of this fountain.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this fountain with it's colourful and beautiful sculpture. I recall my Mother having bought perfume by Niki de Saint Phalle....and the wonderful sculptural detail on the bottle....so similar to her design of the sculpture here at the Stravinsky Fountain....fantastique!
ReplyDeleteWhen I discovered this fountain many years ago, it touched my sense of fun. I think I spent more time looking at the sculptures than I ever did anywhere else. Never saw it frozen,,,,so did the sculptures still move?

ReplyDeleteFunny but this piece grew on me immediately when I saw it for the first time. I still haven't warmed up to some other "modern art" pieces they scattered around Paris, yet.
