Fountain Stravinsky
Yeah! today is February 1st and it's a theme day! Today's theme is... Fountains and well, since I did not know what fountain to choose, I went especially for you to Beaubourg this morning to take a photo of this very famous Stravinsky Fountain that you probably saw if you came to Paris. Only I bet you haven't seen it from this point of you as it is rarely... frozen like it was this morning. I already explained everything about this fountain on this blog, but if you want to know more visit this. And to see some other fountains around the world, well, as usual, go to the City Daily Photo blog portal...

Sure is colorful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for making a special trip to my favorite Paris fountains! And, no, I have never seen them frozen like this. Love the famous perspective with St. Merri in the background.
ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of time here this past trip. I wish the fountain was up to snuff. Maybe it will be working again as it should next trip. Great choice Eric.

I haven't seen this one before, so it's new for me. Merci!
ReplyDeleteI love this fountain. There are many machines in it, and several are often a little screwed up. One never knows which ones will be working, and which ones will not. I also love the little part of rue Saint Martin to the south (not north!) where you can sit at the Grizzli and watch families, kids on scooters, roller blades, and just all sorts of people walking by.
ReplyDeleteI feel like a child each time I see this fountain :)
ReplyDeleteone of my favourite places in Paris. Lovely memories of sitting on the edge, eating French fries and watching people go by...
No shortage of fountains in Paris but this is one of my favorites - so colourful and creative!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this statue before, or seen a photo- intriguing, so many things to see in Paris.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Really great, colorful, unusual, a bit disturbing but so artistically well done! I used to spend a lot of time at the Beaubourg library when student and loved wandering in the aera of this fountain.

Stunning. When I look at a shot like this I miss the creativity one finds in a big city, especially Paris!
ReplyDeleteGreat pic. I love this clown!
ReplyDeletewow...i think this is the most colorful entry so far!
ReplyDeleteThis one is truly unique! I've never seen or heard about it before. Thanks for sharing something new today, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this fountain with it's colourful and beautiful sculpture. I recall my Mother having bought perfume by Niki de Saint Phalle....and the wonderful sculptural detail on the bottle....so similar to her design of the sculpture here at the Stravinsky Fountain....fantastique!
ReplyDeleteWhen I discovered this fountain many years ago, it touched my sense of fun. I think I spent more time looking at the sculptures than I ever did anywhere else. Never saw it frozen,,,,so did the sculptures still move?
ReplyDeletePHX: I don't see how the sculptures can move because I think they are driven exclusively by water pressure.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you chose a modern fountain. Paris suffers sometimes from being stuck in its history.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Really great, colorful
ReplyDeletePoor fountain feels like I do when it is cold and icy: kind of stiff! Very fun shot to see, Eric. Nice to see all that color and excitement on a winter day.

Unusual angle for this one. Usually people photograph the other side, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteFunny but this piece grew on me immediately when I saw it for the first time. I still haven't warmed up to some other "modern art" pieces they scattered around Paris, yet.
