Sunset over Tour Saint Jacques
On my way to dinner last evening, I passed by the Châtelet area while the sun was going down on Paris. The light was absolutely stunning... This tower - that was recently renovated as you may remember - is the only remain of a former church dedicated to Saint Jacques precisely! (See the whole story here). The other landmark you can see here is La colonne du Châtelet (The Chatelet column).

Magnificent photo, Eric! Thanks to PDP I could tell my husband about Le Tour Saint Jacques when we wandered by the last time we were in Paris. PDP - entertaining and educational.
ReplyDeleteJ'aime Tour Saint Jacques. The first years I visited, it was shrouded in mystery (and white construction sheets). When it was finally visible, I fell in love with it. The tower sits in a very pretty park, also.
ReplyDeleteI got so excited I forgot to tell you what a pretty photo you took. Well done.
ReplyDeleteC'est Magnifique
ReplyDeleteWowie zowie! Between the skills of Mother Nature and the skills of M. Tenin, the world gets a once in a lifetime moment captured forever on film! Magnifique is right - this is awesome. Merci, Eric! : )
ReplyDeleteThis tower is a light magnet and you have captured it beautifully as well as the winged gold statue on la colonne. Nice photo.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Striking photo, Eric! (I thought they were never going to unwrap the tour St. Jacques.)
ReplyDeleteA really beautiful picture! I've been to Paris many times and for some reason have never seen this. Something to look for next time. Beautiful! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteSe réveiller at admirer ta magnifique photos de la Tour S.Jaques...un rêve !
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup Eric!
Eric, what a very lovely photo you've taken. The rising sun and setting sun light things up so beautifully. I'm very glad you passed by at just that moment. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOnly one thing to say : WOW !!!
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm not a stalker, but I WAS in the St.Jacques square about 8 hours ago, trying to get their 'free' WIFI to work, so I'm feeling you, bro! ;~Sab
ReplyDeleteI was there at the same time, it was amazing ! It just looked like Paris was burning. The view over the River Seine and Ile de la Cité was stuning. I am glad you captured this short moment. thanks. Adrien
ReplyDeletevery beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. Sunlight does such amazing things! And you were there at the right time to capture it. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteVery nice capture indeed.
ReplyDeleteWow! The light on the angel only (and not the column) is magic...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteKris
Did Carrie really use the word "film"? Whats that? Lol
ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful, if not haunting Eric. Were you on your scooter?
Thank you everyone. I'm glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteand Sab "OK, I'm not a stalker, but I WAS in the St.Jacques square about 8 hours ago, trying to get their 'free' WIFI to work, so I'm feeling you, bro!" LOOOOOOOOOOOL
LOL Michael - yep, I guess my dinosauriness is showing! ;) There's certainly no film in Eric's gun! He sure can point and shoot, though.
ReplyDeleteA lovely, and very painterly, image. The last time I was in Paris, it was still being restored, and could not be seen. The result, especially in this light, is spectacular and gives us an idea of just how awe-inspiring such buildings (which I have been reading a lot about lately) must have been to the people of the Middle Ages.
