After several years of abstinence, I've decided to have a Christmas tree this year! Important decision: which kind (the one that is cheaper, but loses its needles after a week or the one that lasts until mid January?!), where (on line, delivered to your door or at the florist's around the corner), how sophisticated (fake snow, glowing candles, electric garlands...). God did I really need to add more decision making to my life LOL?! I went for the expensive type, around the corner. As for the decoration, I still need to go to the cellar to find out what's left.... Have you made yours yet?

Wished I could have a real Christmas tree. They seem to make Christmas more real...

ReplyDeleteI will bring ours in on wednesday and then my son and I will decorate it while listening to christmas carols, and it will end up looking as every year, so no big decisions has to be made, lol.

ReplyDeleteIt sure beats the tree lifetime of a week in South Florida where the heat dries them out so quickly. Why else do you think we decorate the palm trees in our front yard.
ReplyDeleteOne consolation though, word has it that Santa much prefers coming in through the Florida room vs the chimney where we leave him orange juice and sectioned grapefruit as his treat :-)

ReplyDeleteOurs is usually up and decorated by the first weekend in December, but I had a very ill family at the time, so ours was a week later than normal. We decorate the tree listening to "The Cinnamon Bear", a very old radio program that played in 1937 and has been played at our house since I was a child. There are 26 episodes and it lasts through December as we're decorating, baking, etc. Love the traditions! :)

ReplyDeleteWe had our first real tree this year. Went for the expensive route
also, around the corner (well we had to drive) with tree stand attached. I could not find the ornaments in the garage, and if I did they weren't that wonderful anyway, so I only put white lights
on the tree and a silver/gold tree skirt and I love how simple it looks. Prettiest tree we have ever had! Hope you enjoy yours!

ReplyDeleteI love the fragrance of the Christmas tree. I spray it with water a few times a day so that it doesn't dry out. I didn't use any artificial decorations this year. It is decorated with sprigs of some type of berry tree and pine cones.

ReplyDeleteOh yes!! We've put up an 8' noble fir tree and just today we added all of the decorations: tinsel, garland, ornaments of all kinds and colors and lights!! Beautiful in our eyes!! The Joy of Jesus' birth to you and yours!

ReplyDeleteIn the hills around our town are found some of the world's largest Christmas tree growers. Therefore, it is like a crop, with dozens of lots selling them in addition to dozens more opportunities to cut your own (we did that two years and it was fun...the tree farmers served hot chocolate as we paid). But I have had a bug most of this month, so my husband selected one from the Future Farmers of America lot and brought it home. He set it up and put the lights on. That was the first weekend of December, and I still have not brought out the boxes of decorations. He thinks we should just keep it as it is this year, and I'll let how I feel dictate. But just having the tree in the house makes me happy!
