Recognize this bridge? It's the Pont Alexandre III, the most beautiful Paris bridge in my opinion. Only this time I photographed it from the lower part of the quais (river banks) where they installed a very effective lighting. For the record this bridge was built between 1896 and 1900 and was named after Tsar Alexander III, who had concluded the Franco-Russian Alliance in 1892. It was inaugurated in 1900 for the Universal exhibition. Here is what it looked like at that time...

Yes it is, and this is a beautiful shot.

ReplyDeleteThis is the ornate gold one, looking up to Invalides, yes? Most beautiful ... mmm ... certainly most ornate! However, I find that simple is more beautiful. However, the most ugly bridge in Paris is the one with all those lock things! Whichever it is ... at the rear of Notre Dame.
ReplyDeleteAh, the Tenin perspective of Pont Alexandre III. I love the angle, the lights, the perspective! I suppose I love this bridge in any light and angle. One of my favorite photos from my last trip to Paris is a view of Pont Alexandre through birch trees (I think they are birch?) along the river.
ReplyDeleteI can find no fault in this wonderful photo! I do agree that it is the most beautiful bridge in Paris. It is a perfect representation of Paris, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteEric, it is gorgeous and elegant to the max! Your night shot with gold and red, soft reflections and great perspective is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBises,

Such a rich photo! Love the lights shimmering on the Seine.
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE this photo! Of course this is the most beautiful bridge in all of Paris. I have never seen such a gorgeous perspective of it! I love all of the gilded statues, the darling cherubs and of course le grand poisson at the far end, who I take a picture with every year. Thanks Eric! (from Pont Girl ;-))
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm j'adore. Fascinating light. IMO, this gorgeous Alexander III bridge is the most beautiful one in Paris and your photo is probably the most beautiful night shots of yours. Soft light I love.
ReplyDeleteI'm not up to par on all bridges in Paris, but this looks like it should be the top five!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent view!
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing the postcard of 1900 - Suzan
ReplyDeleteAmazing view, especially when you enlarge it! It seems you are attracted by the curve and feel like diving in the river.
ReplyDeleteStill my favorite bridge in Paris remains the Pont Neuf.
It certainly is the most elegant—and your photo more than does it justice! I'm kind of partial to the Pont des Arts, just because it's a footbridge.
ReplyDelete@Julie "However, the most ugly bridge in Paris is the one with all those lock things! Whichever it is ... at the rear of Notre Dame." Oh yes, I see which one. It's not really "a bridge" LOL
ReplyDelete@Maylène, Alexa... Yes, you're right there are other nice bridges in Paris! And now that you mention it I love Pont Neuf too and I love Ponts des arts also... Tough to have to choose between beautiful and more beautiful!
Ooh...gasp...aahh...so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful bridge! Although...the one with the heart locks might be my favorite. I don't know, I'll have to see them in person to be sure. ;)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bridge it is...but the Pont des Arts will always have a special place in my nostalgic heart! I loved walking over it in the rain or sunshine and always observing an artist or a picnic...just life!
