For the 1st time this year I finally got to have dinner outside! And a pretty good dinner actually for it was at Le Caveau du Palais a traditional French restaurant at Place Dauphine (right by the Palais de Justice - hence its name! - that I photographed yesterday at daylight). I had Bar grillé (grilled sea bass), plain, with just lemon and butter and it was to die for LOL! I could not help but taking a photo of course. I think the Place Dauphine is going to be my new hangout this year ;-)

Oooh I absolutely adore Place Dauphine too such an Oasis in the heart of the city. Last time I was there having lunch iin a cafe maybe, called Bar Caveau, it was like being in a film so busy with locals and the owners kids playing outside and running in for food now and then...just totally charming. I must get on to my travel agent!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome and then awe some more!
ReplyDeleteOh, we were in Place Dauphine on a sunny but not terribly warm Sunday in May, and there were a few families there and some German tourists. That's all, but it was enough - so peaceful. Like being in Provence in the heart of Paris. I would hang out there, too, Eric. In fact, I would like to live there.
ReplyDeleteMimi
I'm more of a "not see my food in a natural state" kind of girl...can I just have it filleted? LOL I'm so glad it was an amazing meal for you, it sounds delicious!!
ReplyDelete(I remember being in Israel, visiting a kibbutz and some of our group ordered the pizza and some the fish. I was VERY glad I ordered the pizza that day. Having the fish looking back at me would have been too much. ;)
Giggle, and I at at La Rose de France at Place Dauphine, yum!
ReplyDeleteI love Place Dauphine and have a very special connection with that area. I have eaten at Le Caveau du Palais but I didn't have the "Bar Grille'..." I will if I ever get there again...I love the classic steamed new potatoes they served with it. Lovely!! Like PHX2CDG I love "La Rose de France" across the street. One autumn I think I went there for lunch every Sunday. They had one of the best Chicken dishes in Paris; but I have heard it isn't as good as it used to be..tant pis! I even bought a cigarette lighter[though I don't smoke]from a poor woman who was selling them in the resto. It was "Philippe Starck" she said. I still have it...and I like to just hold it sometime. It is quite unusual...Mangez Bien!!
ReplyDeleteI only walked through Place Dauphine once. Lovely. Next time, I'll eat.
ReplyDeleteNice
ReplyDeletebut to tell you the truth I dislike restaurants [ anywhere ] . When I visit Paris , and I do often, Subway
sandwich is my savior . Go ahead and condemn me, its
Ok . Their is a "wait " in waiter don't forget , and in
glorious Paris I have to many things to do and explore .
Siting and [ wait] ing is not my style .
When we go again in Aug. we will eat what we like but
the Art and history of Paris beckons......... and by the way,
my cooking at home is what I miss most when traveling

Time for lunch...
ReplyDeleteThat made me hungry!
I also like the style in your image.
Happy new week!
I hope that you kept an eye out for Maigret! :)
ReplyDeleteDelish! And served correctly, I might add. Just finished a book about Cordon Bleu cooking which dictates that the head of the fish must always be to the left (-:
ReplyDeleteOh my. Oh my. Oh my. I cannot eat a fish when it's looking at me. No head or tail on mine, please! :^)
ReplyDeleteEric
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you had a great meal, but where's the photos of the Brits taking over the Champs Elysees yesterday?
There you are folks, you heard it first on PDP - Place Dauphine is THE place to be seen this summer. Eric has spoken. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, now we know where to find you this year—staring back at your food in the Place Dauphine! Seriously, though, it looks de-lish.
ReplyDeleteWe spent our 10th wedding anniversary in Paris and ate at Le Caveau du Palais. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOOL! I can see that PLace Dauphine has almost no secrets for you (including mots of the restaurants there). I must say I rediscovered the place as I would not necessarily think of going there. But like I - and everybody here - said, it's definitely a nice place to hang out (BTW, if you go to Le Caveau, r one of the other restaurants on the pace, pick a warm day and book a table outside. Otherwise, if you stay inside, it's just another restaurant...
ReplyDelete@Ken "but to tell you the truth I dislike restaurants [ anywhere ] . When I visit Paris , and I do often, Subway sandwich is my savior . Go ahead and condemn me, its Ok . "
ReplyDeleteLOL Ken. It's perfectly fine, you have the right to prefer Subway (I personally go to Mas Donald's at least once a week, so...)
Thanks Eric
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I don't go to the grease pot fast food places either but
Subway is clean fresh food right now
and just as I like it !
And besides, the Art needs my time.
the wise-ass waiter's can wait .

We must go there on our next trip to Paris... The fish looks so delicious with the head on! I usually read locals' blog to see what is great to try on their city.
