Well, it may be cold and rainy in Paris, but we have this! I passed by "the Tower" last evening on my way to a dinner party and thought it was more beautiful than ever... So here you go: Miss Eiffel Tower, in the "flesh"! FYI, it took 2 years, 2 months and 5 days to build it and inaugurated on March 31st, 1889.

A classic choice - Always a favorite and this is a great shot! I wonder if the new "1st floor" entrance is done yet? It was under construction during my last visit.
ReplyDeleteStuart (below), who happens to live on street away from the Eiffel Tower, knows it all ;-)
DeleteYou are right, more beautiful than ever!
ReplyDeleteTruly lovely, I'll never tire of it.

ReplyDeleteYes, it was a nice evening. They're not ALL like that!
DeleteOMD—that's what I said when this page opened! You've captured her magic for sure, Eric. (Now if they'd just turn the lights off on the monstrosity in the background . . .)
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
DeleteRegarding work on the first level, I believe the renovations will be complete in 2014. In the meantime, the perimeter is still open as are the 2nd and 3rd levels. There is an interesting description of the changes on the ET official web site including a before and after image.
ReplyDeleteYour photo captures well the immensity of the tower from up close, Eric. You're really getting your money's worth from that new lens.
I'm am, aren't I?!

Well I missed it (and though it was in my agenda!)... But I'm sure I'll have a catch up occasion for Estear!
