The most valuable service station in Paris!

OK, this place may look a little messy - and there's a car in the middle - but don't you think this would make a cool loft? Well, I'm saying this because, I'm sure this is really how it's going to end for guess where I took this photo? At rue des Archives, in the heart of Le Marais, one of the most expensive areas of Paris. I'm sure that a zillion realters are on the watch, waiting for the owner of the place to sell it, so that they can turn in into a super cool apartment! In the meantime it makes a cool photo too ;-)

  2. Hah ... in Australia, a service station is also a petrol station ... a place for the nozzling of petrol. What you show here, we call a a mechanic's unless he just does the vehicle electricals when we call in an electrical mechanic ...

    1. In fact they have both: petrol (but you cannot see the pumps for they are along the street) - which is harder and harder to find in Paris! and the mechanics part that I photographed.
      You can actually have a better view on streetview

  3. Pretty challenging building for a loft. It would take a lot of cleaning to get rid of the smell of petroleum products. That stuff seeps into floors, walls, everything. I do like the glass roof.

    No posting for the picnic yet, or am I missing it on the page?

    1. No I did not have the time before I went on vacation for the week. I'm just back now, so I'll do it this weekend - one extra thing to add on my to do list!

You could rent it out to all of us, if you would not want to leave there..lol... I like the poster of Alpha Blondy on the wall...Kara :))

  6. As soon as I saw this photo I thought of that film from the '70s that every American Francophile was in love with: Diva. Remember how the hero lived in a garage? Only, since he was French, he made garage-living look so chic. I also remember Jessye Norman's atrocious French in that movie...and now I'm remembering that Molly Ringwald made movies in France and I wonder if her French was any good...

    Love the skylight, too. But I bet that place looks very Hopper-esque when it's dark and they turn those big fluorescent lights on.

    1. Oh yes I do remember this film! You had to take an elevator to reach his place right? Gee that is soooooooo long ago!

  7. It definitely has potential. But if those skylights are your only source of daylight, your neighbors could get to know you VERY well! What's up with all the real estate lately, Eric? Are you getting tired of your place (though I really can't imagine that) or thinking of changing careers? :~}

  8. I admit it, I haven't visited your actual site in a while. (I just read the email version.) I love, love, love the new look! It's so clean and easy to use. Well done!

    I just returned from Paris last week, but I was there for the last snow. As you know,Paris in the snow is absolutely beautiful, even if it wreaks havoc on the transport system.

    Cool photo. I agree with Vivian about the Hopper-esque look... x Katie

    1. Hopper! Wow... I'll take that ;-)

      And merci for the compliments on the new look Katie.

      PS: maybe you did not experience the VERY last snow. It's still very cold here!
