By the Seine

Last night I "had to" go to a professional networking party held on a boat on the Seine. Not only was the party worth it, but on top of that the weather is so wonderfully warm in Paris at the moment that it was really the perfect place to be. When I left, I walked for a while along the Seine, right at the bottom of the Eiffel tower, where they have a sort of mini landing zone for small boats (where I took this photo once). I sat down on the steps, waited for a boat to pass by and started shooting very close to the level of the river. A delightful moment... BTW: did you notice that today is 09/09/09 ?

  1. Beautiful Eric! I love the way you captured the boat in motion. I also love the way the bridge is peaking in on the right side of the picture...

  5. What a wonderful picture, Eric. It's a beautiful spot, one I remember. I can imagine you there, waiting for the best shot, then snapping away.

I like your new blog, by the way. When do you ever get the time?

Seriously, the light, the movement, and of course the perspective all contribute to make this one special.

  9. Gorgeous is right! I love the lights and movement. That's a fair sized wake, too, me hearties...

LOL, Cali! I'm sure quality time alone with Alexa would be inspiring.

Congrats, Justine. Some twinkling lights on your crown?

  14. Just a quick hi from Paris where we just passed 09/09/09 9 o'clock:

Silly, but it's only once in a lifetime...

  15. Charming photo Eric.

Even sillier - nine minutes, nine seconds, past nine o'clock was -
    09:09:09/09/09/09.

Can't wait until 10th October next year!

    and 11th November 2011.

    and 12th December 2012.

AND THEN - IT ALL ENDS IN 2013.

Perhaps a good idea to get all those things you promised yourself done before then.

  16. Eric, I can feel the warmth in the Paris air! Capturing the sense of motion, the long slim white hull and the faint outline of the French flag takes me home to the rivière Seine.

  18. Drummond - fear not, it doesn't have to end if you use 24 hour time like they do in Europe.
And, until 2013 you get to experience the magic twice a day each year!!

  21. I love her: low, sleek, classic styling. Gliding through the heart of the city's life feeling barely a ripple even in big waves from bigger vessels. Beautiful in the night light. They even look smooth to the touch, those Parisiennes, but the varnish is watertight. Impermeable.

  22. I agree with Sue and Monica!
Poor Eric! Life is really toooooo difficult ;-(

  23. Wow...must be a fast boat as at first glance it looks like it streaked by at 50 knots!

  24. So, am I not alone that this boat does not look like a bateau mouche?

I keep imagining its a privately owned vessel, whose owner we'd all like to meet and who is undoubtedly rich, good-looking and fantastically cultured. I'm also picturing a perfectly prepared dinner with impeccable wait staff and a discrete string quartet. Sound nice?! ; )
