Dinner with friends
Little truce with my diet! I'm just back from a dinner at La tête de goinfre (pig head) in the 17th arrondissement where I, well, did not exactly eat lightly! But I don't regret it ; as you can see it's a typical French restaurant - with this so typical table cloth and old wine boxes for decor. I had Cochon de lait (roasted porc) and stuffed myself with the irresistible bread (the one you can see in the baskets on the bar)!

There's that perspective again, sort of. Roast pig is always worth going off your regime for, Eric! This place looks wonderfully Parisian.
ReplyDeleteEric, I think we're finally alone.
ReplyDeleteYou and Eric aren't alone anymore, Alexa.
ReplyDeleteEric, that's what diets are for, to go off them now and then. I love roast pork and can never resist good bread. Now I'm hungry.
Oooooh bread! And roasted pork! Mmmmm!
ReplyDeleteYes, you've made me hungry again. I must go home for dinner!
ReplyDeleteBread. What a pain.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun!!
"La Tête de Goinfre" - Could be an apt establishment to decline a suitor, gently.
ReplyDeleteOh how French this is... And a table near the bar is always a winner for people watching and waiter nabbing (for when you need them and they're normally nowhere to be found).
ReplyDeleteLOL ET Suzy!
ETS -- LOOOL!!

Oh Eric, I feel your pain. I walked a million miles in Paris and alas, the damn bread and wine and......desserts trumped any hope of weight loss. I 'm home and the bread just sucks. The wine is good but maybe I'll get back on track. Love this post. Misery loves company.

PS Great shot !
Yum! That sounds delicious! Worth going off the diet for.
ReplyDeleteGood for you Eric!!!
ReplyDeleteEric-
ReplyDeleteI was in Paris in June for 10 magical days! Through your blog I can still visit daily..thank you!!!
I was (and still am for a few minutes more)in Paris and missed a meal for the first time in my life. I thought i lost my good watch in Galeries Layfayette yesterday and TOTALLY lost my appetite. Since I wear two,it was the expensive one that fell off. Try THAT for a diet, Eric!
ReplyDeleteMy watch fell in my shopping bag. I discovered it while back at the hotel.
BTW, ladies, G.Layfette changed their shoe floor to the basement. the ENTire basement is now a shoe department. Glorious.
What a lovely photo. 'Glad you enjoyed a nice dinner, Eric. Boy, do I miss real French bread!
ReplyDeleteET Suzy, "Bread. What a pain"
ReplyDeleteVirginia, "I feel your pain"
LOOOL
Eric, how do you feel this morning? ready for a jogging? ;-)
My turn: "feeling painful?"
ReplyDeletewhere will it end
I would just love to feel your pain. You know that, don't you, Eric?
ReplyDelete@Stuart, "painful", or "pain full" ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hope your head isn't feeling a petit pain this morning...groan. I'm envious of your dinners out over verre (groan again). Still you deserve to stuff yourself now and then; I have no truc with it...snigger.
ReplyDeleteRoast pork isn't my favourite meat, though roast almost anything else is. Sounds like you had a good time!
LOL Alexa; 'Eric I think we're finally alone' he he... I'm going to have to return with some sharp flirtation tactics I see.
ReplyDeleteI always love your Paris restaurant shots. Everything looks exactly as it should in my minds eye...perfect!! Methinks Eric likes those Paris "Porc" dinners.."pied de cochon"..etc., and so do I! Merci!
ReplyDeleteYummy. In French, we say 'tout est bon dans le cochon'. LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd that is true.
Very selfishly, I'd say I am feeling my pain today ;)
On a different note, I need to go to this new shoes department you told about Phx !!! Too bad GL are a bit far from my office now...
Feel like going shopping... Feel like I am tired. Pas beau à voir, je vous le dis! :)
LOL, Lynn.
ReplyDelete(Speaking of "pain": At work we are currently starting work on the magazine's Christmas issue and the food editor put out about 10 different kinds of cookies. Put some in a plastic bag and went to see Julie & Julia (again!). Definitely my new fave movie. Have you seen it?
That shoes should be on the ground floor seems...fitting.
ReplyDeleteIf I give you my fax number, can you send me some of that bread?
ReplyDeleteSean
Wow, just wow... How excellent!...
ReplyDeleteQuelle tête ;)
Quel bosseur aussi.
Sounds like a delightful evening. Would you show us a favorite restaurant meal sometime?
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't Alexa, I'm sure I'd like to, but I know I'm envious of your cookies! I'm just about to take some out of the oven. Last two batches weren't what I expected. Cookies and biscuits mean different things to UK and USA! I ended up with cakes. Ok must go and get them.....!
ReplyDelete"Julie and Julia" is on the list for the weekend, have heard it is terrific! ;-)
ReplyDeleteEuroStyle "If I give you my fax number, can you send me some of that bread?" Sure! Or should I beam it up instead Scotty?!
ReplyDeletePHX. Pfffew. I'm happy for you you did not lose your good watch (not to mention you surely don't need to skip meals!)
No Thib, I surely could not have even though of jogging today (nor yesterday, nor the day before, BTW LOL)
@USelaine LOL
Quel dommage que tu n'aies pas pris de photo de la déco des lieux !!!

ReplyDeleteYum, pork! I also like the pig's head place mat under the wineglass.
