Here comes the rain again...

We had a little taste of winter these past 2 days. Rain, drop in temperature... People have started freaking out because the "big flu" is likely to start spreading out with the cold weather. So far so good though ;-). I had to go to La Cité Universitaire (a place that I already mentioned here). That is where I took this photo (the sky obviously cleared up after the rain). I'm glad it's Le weekend even though it's going to be busy (with a nice photo opportunity Saturday night, if I'm lucky...)

  1. Bummer about the rain, but I do like the pretty building captured in this rain puddle. I'm wondering about the "big flue" though -- is that for a new pipe organ being built in Paris?

  2. I'm also wondering about the big flue...? Do you mean Swine Flu?

Love this shot in the puddle. Very clear, considering.

  6. This looks like a reflection in a mirror. The blue of the sky reminds me of lapis lazuli. Very nice. Here's wishing you luck with that photo op!

Congrats Katie. Has the countdown to Paris begun? ;-)

  7. Lynn I figured Eric was talking about Swine Flu, but I was in a saucy mood (they let us leave work early today since Monday is a holiday) and I couldn't resist making a lame joke. Flue also means a fishing net, but I couldn't think of anything clever to say about a net. PHX this photo does look mosaic-like with all the different shapes!

  14. "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66"

If you ever plan to motor west,
travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
It winds from Chicago to LA,
more than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
Now you go though Saint Looey (Louis)
    Joplin, Missouri,
and Oklahoma City is mighty pretty.
    You see Amarillo,
    Gallup, New Mexico,
    Flagstaff, Arizona.
    Don't forget Winona,
    Kingman, Barstow, San Bernandino (Bernardino).
Won't you get hip to this timely tip:
when you make that California trip
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

  15. What a brilliant shot!
We needed rain anyway, at least for our gardens and the trees.
    But it's gone now!
The weekend is sunny, and my lawn is turning back to green(ish!)

    Jeff, what a great song!

  16. The reflection of this building has blended with the black, grey and white dots on the ground to give you a picture that looks like a mosaic. Nice combination!

  18. I live one and a half blocks south of good old Route 66 as it winds through Albuquerque. Love the song, especially the Asleep at the Wheel version. Wish we had some of that lovely Paris rain here this week.

  19. Eric, I've been stopping by to visit your blog for awhile now and enjoy it very much. I have had the privilege of visiting Paris only twice in my life, but your photos and comments make others feel as if we are peeking through a window to catch one more glimpse of the city's beauty and spirit. Thank you for sharing your blog with others.
