Another Souvenir from the Picnic

The place we had the picnic on Sunday is very very popular. So popular that a lot of people go there to take a walk or lay in the sun by the river between the Pont Neuf (in the background) and the Pont des arts. And before they go, they often want to leave a little souvenir on one of the many trees that are planted there! That is what I grabbed in this photo ;-) How romantic is that?! BTW, I worked all evening for you. The video is now ready. Don't expect too much though... It's just a little souvenir.

  2. I expected to find in the trunk of the tree something like PDP 5th Annual Picnic. ;)

  3. What? No one wrote PDP on the trunk to celebrate? I guess I'll need to do that someday! :)

  4. Oui! It's very romantic -- after all, the Seine is Paris' (if not France's) designated place for amour.

  5. BTW, that was a fun picnic video -- Merci everyone for not being camera shy.

  6. Fun video, Eric. Everyone looks so happy and healthy. I especially like what it says underneath the video screen - "This conversation is missing your voice" - ain't that the truth.

    Hello back to Rose!

  8. I'm just sitting here grinning in Vermont after watching the video. Thanks, Eric, for taking the time to make it. It's the next best thing to being there.

  9. What great pnotos! What a great video! what a hole in my heart that I couldn't be there!! It was so much fun watching you all in person and listening to Lynn over the phone. It just kills me that I wasn't there! Welcome, Ulla, to our little community, courtesy of Eric.

  12. Loved the video, thanks Eric for sharing it with us. It was fun watching and hearing all the PDP followers. I especially liked hearing Lynn on the phone. Thanks again for sharing the fun with all of us.

  13. Did any of the PDP pique-nique participants leave their mark on this tree? Had to watch the video before I commented. All the folks I "know" are, I'm glad to see, just as I imagined—Michael, Jeff, Drummond, Rose, ma petite reine Guille with the cool T-shirt (I must have one!). Lovely to see everyone (and to hear Lynn). Don't want to say anything, but you have my phone number, Eric! Maybe you didn't want to make a trans-Atlantic call? Hey, maybe I'll manage to be there next time (I hope).

  14. Oh, that video really was fun! Such lovely people, of course. Thank you, Eric, for all have done for the world in these five years, and counting...

  17. I have to say Eric, if you pulled back a little from your video subjects, coupled with a spot of editing, it could have been 'magnificent'!

  18. Thank you Eric. That is a great present you have given to all PDPers and to people like me who were not able to make it for the picnic.

A nice capture of that moment.

The picnic food really seemed to be delicious and what Ulla said about cooking as a Chef which has nothing to see with home cooking for family and friends made me fancy even more eating what she prepared for you! Lucky folks!

Lynn Ede on the phone was a lovely moment too as well as hearing Rose, Jeff, Anissa, Andy, Michael, Guille, Sab, speaking as well!

Ok, nice souvenir, lots of souvenirs and fun.

  19. Cool photo and wow, you were quick off the mark with the video, Eric. Such fun to see a piece of the festivities and friendly faces, both familiar and new. And Lynn sounds as British as I imagined, even with her excitement!

  20. And most importantly, Thank you, Eric! :)

  22. Seeing everyone was fab and eating Ulla's food... Oh my...
Unfortunately Michael and Guille had to leave but we all went out for a meal in the evening... it was cool!

  23. Hehe Shell yes I am English, can't get away from that one. :) What fun that was! I wasn't sure the phone call would be able to be reproduced but it worked really well! It was marvellous to be part of it, even from afar! If there's one thing I do next year, it's go to that picnic! Thanks to those who appreciated hearing me and including me in it all! Eric, you did it again! Great picnic. xx

  25. Monica, I can't believe I didnt say hello to you in the video! I am sorry... maybe it is because since you you planted your rose in my front garden I think of you everytime I see it ;) x

  27. Got back from Paris late last night and when I got into work this morning my staff had the picnic photo pinned to the notice board!

You are all such lovely people and Mai and I felt so relaxed in your company.

It was great to meet up again for a meal in the evening (Rose, you are a good organiser). As you mentioned Jeff, a lot of us trying to talk at the same time. (mea culpa)

-Michael, sorry you had to leave early for London.
-Guille, I hope your boss at the pub doesn't follow PDP!
-Allan and Linda, hope you enjoyed your last Paris meal at 'your' restaurant. Trust you had a safe journey back to Canada
    -Cathy, you are a character.
-Anissa, I didn't realise you were the 'lady in the photo'!
-Ulla, good luck, we all want to be the first to know when you get that restaurant going!
-Polly, we really enjoyed your company when we walked you back to your appartment.
    - Sab, thanks for CANONising Eric!
    (your joke)

The video captured the spirit of occasion, although there was something wrong with Eric's camera as I am much younger and better looking in real life.

Finally of course, the biggest thanks to you Eric - for PDP and for being the perfect host.

  28. I loved watching the video! I definitely have to plan a trip to Paris next summer so I can join you all. Thanks to all who so graciously allowed you to video them!

  29. Great photo and video hope I can time my trip better next time but looking forward to see Paris if not the PDP people in two weeks.

  31. I cna't see the video from my office ;-(
But the more I read the comments, the more I'm impatient ...

  32. Drummond love yr joke about Eric's camera! :) Must remember that one.

  33. Oh Rosie thanks for posting that link to Anisa's photo! I took a photo of that statue last year while I was walking aimlessly around town!!! Too bad Anisa wasn't still there.

  34. Lynn, there seem to be more and more of these faulty cameras around with every year that goes by. Something really needs to be done about it.
It was lovely to hear your voice- very English Rose.
Not THE English Rose (Folkstone variety) of course.

  35. Hi everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed the video (And I'm glad I did not wait ages before posting it!)

@Alexa. "Don't want to say anything, but you have my phone number, Eric! " True, somewhere in my american phone... But I did not make the calls, Michael did. I was too busy hopping from one person to another!

@Virginia. Shame you missed the picnic by so little time.

@Flore "The picnic food really seemed to be delicious" true even though I did not get to taste any, because of my diet ;-(

@Shell Sherree "And Lynn sounds as British as I imagined, even with her excitement!" Yes she does LOL!

@Drummond "The video captured the spirit of occasion, although there was something wrong with Eric's camera as I am much younger and better looking in real life." LOOOOOOL! BTW, please ask Mai to forgive me for spelling her name wrong in the video...

  36. I'm just back from London and the first thing I wanted to do was check the video. How great to see everyone again. Like Drummond, Eric needs to get his camera fixed because I'm definitely not as fat as it appears. However, Guille IS as big of a fan as it appears. Yeah, I know what you thought I was going to say...

Next year let's really aim for 75 or 100!

Thanks again Eric for organising it and bringing so many people together.

  37. What I nice souvenir. I love the video (except of course my own appearance, I can tell I had Champagne AND red wine AND red wine before). Thank you Eric !
And Rosie, thank you for the link to Aniisa. An amazing picture.

  38. Lynn! It's so good to see & hear from you again! : ) I really would like to try to come for the picnic next year. And, if I can't I'll just have to call! Drummond - LOOOOL as usual.

You guys are all the best! : )

  39. Ah thank you, Drummond :)I like that.

I have watched it a few times now, it's such fun & what a super souvenir for everyone Eric. :)

Having trouble logging in lately. Tomate Farcie. Going to try sending this now.

  43. Dear Drummond---"Takes one to know one" as Shakespeare said in "Mid-Paris Night's Dream". Maybe some day you won't have to go to the office and, like the lucky ones of us, can spend as many days as you like in the City of Lights!
You're a "stitch" too and I look forward to a rendevouz on the river in 2011!

  44. Gosh! I feel so Parisienne this morning. What should I do for the rest of the day?
