What did they do with the pot?

... And don't say "They smoked it!", as this is, in fact, a clever idea if you have an old tub and big plants you don't know what to do with. I found this on the river banks, by the Josephine Baker swimming pool (a swimming pool that floats on the Seine) that you can see in the background. I'm not 100% sure, but I think these plants were part of the Fête des jardins (the gardens festival), an event dedicated to parks and gardens that took place last weekend in Paris. And as you can see, the weather is not so nice in Paris these days...

  1. So sorry that the weather is less than perfect. This photo is very interesting, but the plants don't really look "smoke-able" (and I'm from the '60s so I should know!).

  2. I did not know there is a floating swimming pool. The very idea is a classic example of irony. So, one more thing I didn't know about Paris.

I sat in a cafe on the bank of another river tonight, writing about the first railroad bridge over the Mississippi River, which I could see as I wrote. And about the families, children, and dogs that walked by. It reminded me of sitting at the Grizzili Cafe on rue St. Martin, near the Pompidou, watching les enfants on their skates, bikes, and scooters. And it reminded me of sitting in Place de l'Alma, though I had skyscrapers instead of le Tour Eiffel.

  3. Recycling is a good idea. With a new lay of white paint to look like a new tub.
You can do many things with the 'pot', you know! I love the title you always come up with! Very creative. Very you too :)

Jeff; what you are writing sounds really interesting.

  5. Can you imagine if it didn't have the plants inside? Who might be tempted to take a quiet bath there? LOL Not me! The grasses are much more lovely.

  6. I love those plants -- I mean the cattails (as we call them in the US). I cannot make out the swimming pool. Are you referring to the structure? The weather looks nice in your photo -- blue skies. We are having a heat wave in San Francisco. We are in our 5th day of it. When I leave my building, the minute I step outside I get a blast of heat as if I were walking into an oven -- literally. This heat zaps all the energy out of you.

  8. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

  9. Wow, a floating swimming pool. Seems impossible! But if anyone can do it, it's the French, they are physics masters! I saw this other very interesting use for a bathtub on etsy the other day, if maybe a little overpriced, haha! http://bit.ly/cGXSTH
