The Christians believe that Jesus was born in a stable surrounded by a his parents (Joseph and Mary), a donkey, an ox and a few shepherds. It is generally called a Nativity scene and you find many everywhere in Christian countries like France . Here is one of them, that I found on the door of the
Notre Dame de Lorette church. Really beautiful.
Wow, that is really different. I like it!
ReplyDeleteMost unusual, but intriguing. Is there a light shining on the doors Eric or is that an effect created by the artist?

I like it, all the faces in close proximity, crowding in. Lighting is great, too.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of awe in the shepherds eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe Nativity has been the subject of artistic works for centuries. This one is unusual, surely.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, did you get your scooter back or is it frozen to the pavement? Was there a look of awe in your eyes when you saw it?
Well, THAT'S different! And quite lovely. I really appreciate it when you show us things like this that are a bit off the beaten path. (And I hope you got your scooter back!)
ReplyDeleteThat is very beautiful...the light and everything about it is mesmerizing
ReplyDeleteI really like this perspective of the Nativity scene. You're so good at finding such amazing scenes!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a unique take on The Nativity. & I like it very much.
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to know if the snow has started melting yet.
I am quite familiar with nativity scenes, and I have never seen one quite like this! Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't know how I missed yesterday's post, but here in Texas I was in my twenties before I ever saw a snowfall! And we got a record breaking 9 inches! It started snowing Christmas eve and we woke up to a white Christmas, something we only sing about dreaming about here. ;) QUITE the event!
Is that painted on the door or is it a projection? I lived in cyprus for a year and boy do they know how to do nativity scenes! sometimes they involved real sheep and donkeys!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and unexpected.
ReplyDelete@Dermo "Is there a light shining on the doors Eric or is that an effect created by the artist?". There is a light ;-)
ReplyDelete@Jeff "By the way, did you get your scooter back or is it frozen to the pavement? Was there a look of awe in your eyes when you saw it?" Yes I did. But I had no fear for I doubt anybody who steal a scooter on such a night!
@Lily "I'm dying to know if the snow has started melting yet." Yes it melted very quickly. It's almost totally gone now.
@Jennifer. Interesting I would have never thought there could be snow in Texas!
@Alice "Is that painted on the door or is it a projection?" Painted.
Christians believe a lot of utter nonsense.
ReplyDeleteI saw this last week on my way to the metro (too cold to stop and take a photo!) and I found it a little scary!
ReplyDeleteEli
Thanks for the picture, Eric, but no, that's not what the Christians believe.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very powerful legend, but not something that is taken as literal truth.
