Opening of the 2011 Rugby World Cup!

Not many reasons to rejoice these days... so here is one (for those who love Rugby!). The 2011 world Cup opened yesterday in New Zealand and since you may know I have a soft spot for New Zealand and New Zealanders (remember this street Haka and the opening of Koko?), well I took advantage of the presence in Paris of Roniece, a true PDP follower Kiwi (wearing orange in this photo), to go to the Freedom Pub, off Les Champs Elysées, to attend the opening and the first match. I will still support the French team though ;-)

  2. Aaaah nice smiling faces and a cool photo, Eric. Love the orange colour! I really enjoy each reason to rejoice for they are not so numerous by these days, ... you're right. I heard that Australia and New Zealand (and also South of Africa) are becoming the most appealing countries from Europeans (or at least French) eyes, specially amongst the youngest. Their restaurants, brands and products are more and more imported in Paris and are pretty successful. They appear like prosperous countries in which all is still possible ... But hey, I still hope the BEST for our French young and talentuous team... Have we got any chance to pass the first stage ? the second ? semi-finale? the finale?... well hopefully the best wins, that's what I have to say !

  4. So great to see Roniece here. You're very lucky that you can spend time together in Paris.
And to figure in a PDP post then it can't be much bigger ;o)

  5. I notice that they are all smiling, but will they still be smiling at the end of the tournament?
    I think they probably will.
As a Scotland supporter, don't think we have much chance but I know our team will get a great reception down there - as long as we don't beat the All Blacks. Dream on!

  6. Nice to see you "in" PDP, Roniece!

As Eric and Michael, I supported the Kiwis yesterday, but the French team this morning ;-)
And, you know what, I do wish Blacks and Blues meet twice during this Cup ... and that Blacks win only once !
And I will modify the famous sentence "Messieurs les Anglais, tirez les premiers" in "Dear friends Black, please do win first" ;-))

  8. Finding reasons to rejoice is one of the things I love best about PDP -- there are always people looking on the bright side of things here, which I find actually makes things truly brighter. So a big "thank you" to Eric and everyone else who make PDP such a bright spot in my day. It all helps me spread the optimism around just that little bit further in my own little world. : )

  9. I once followed an amateur rugby team who had bumper stickers that said "Give blood - play rugby!" There was another one but it's not correct for a "family" blog!
