Paris Haka
Do you know what the Haka is? It's a ritual dance performed by the Maori people from New Zealand (find out more here) and by the All blacks (the New Zealand Rugby team) before matches. But it can also be performed on special occasions, like to celebrate the opening of a store, like the one of Koko, a new Kiwi fashion store located in the 3rd arrondissement. Very impressive, and I'm not only talking about the Haka, but about the New Zealand fashion too! Check for yourself in this video clip from the NZ television.

Well, let me be the first to say "Aren't you the man on the spot?!" This is so cool. Now to check out the links . . .
ReplyDeleteNice linkage, Eric. Those fashions look nothing like what these guys are wearing! :~}
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in love. No, not with the dancers, although they are really handsome. I SO want that gray jacket with the black bow!
ReplyDeleteI always get goose bumps when I watch the haka done by the All Blacks!
ReplyDeleteHaka Rocks!!
ReplyDeleteYou are enjoying good weather in Paris I see. I have seen the Haka performed in Hawaii at outdoor luaus. The best performances of Polynesian dances that I have ever seen was when I was visiting the Polynesian Cultural Center. After the show, the leading male dancer posed for me -- he was really fierce. I don't think he was use to posing -- there was something very wild in his eyes. Here is a link to a clip taken during the performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVa0z3A0baQ&feature=related It is about a minute long. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cool way to open a store!
ReplyDeleteBTW, it's me (Pont Girl - from many moons ago :-)). I'm glad to be back visiting your awesome daily posts, Eric!
Yay, a little bit of NZ in Paris, and yes, our fashions kick ass!

Oh, those polka dots and that gray jacket with the bow are for me!! Love it!! Very good capture, Eric!
ReplyDeleteThese men may look tough, but it's obvious that they don't wear the trousers -in more ways than one.
ReplyDeleteThose are some scary women at the back!
