Not far from the Sacré Coeur church, on the lower part of Montmartre there is a shop that all Parisians know: Le marché Saint-Pierre. It's THE place to go if you want to buy cheap fabric. And when I say cheap fabric I mean unexpensive, not "cheap"! I personally do not like this place too much for it reminds me of when my mother would drag me there as a child (!) but I must say I went back there recently to take this photo and, well, yes all this fabric makes it a place to see!

Great comment! This is so true. I believe every kid in Paris knows this place for the reasons you describe so accurately. This picture brings back so many souvenirs. Don't miss this place, for a pilgrimage or for a first visit, there no shop that is more parisian than this one.

Beautiful close-up, the colours are so attractive. Oh why didn't I visit this shop when in Paris, I love fabrics (after a childhood of also being dragged around the dustry fabric shops of Sydney...but maybe that's why now I work in fashion!)

Eric, ce n'est pas "Sacré Choeur" ("Holy Choir"), mais "Sacré-Coeur" ("Sacred Heart").
Je suppose que ce n'était qu'une coquille... (I guess it was just a misprint).
