Now here is a scoop! If you are a true PDP lover you surely remember (here and here) that a tramway is being built around Paris. Well, it's not open to the public yet, but they have just started training the drivers. So here is a photo of one of the first trams to run on the brand new railway. Just for you! Have a nice week.

Thank you for this exclusive, Eric! Boy, these look really nice! I remember when the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) got started, they bought their rail cars from France!

Cool! By the way, Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies on PDP from the USA and all over the world! (It's still Mother's Day here for a few more hours.)

Eric, I dunno if you and your wife are parents or not, but if so then tell your wife Happy Mother's Day for me.

Tramway ecole! That's great! Can't wait to ride on the tram in Paris.

This will make Paris the belly button of the world. (But it already is.)

soosha: Mother's day is not for a couple of weeks, in France, but I'm sure they appreciate your good wishes anyway :-D Happy mother's day to you, though. Hope your son has made a full recovery since his stay at the hospital a couple of weeks ago and that you had a great mother's day :-D

I am still trying to way to show your wonderful pictures to my French students, Eric! We aren't allowed to access blogger, but I will find a way! I know that they would love your views of the city (they are really tired of my pictures :-).

I think I saw the tracks being built - near Javel and Boulevard Victor - when I went to parc Andre Citroen. I didn't see these great new trams though. Chouette!

tram school, huh? are the teachers French or from other countries which already use them, like Belgium?

    Nice shot Eric.

I'm not sure I would have stood in front of the tram seeing as it was a driver learning to operate the tram!! (smile)

  14. Elisabeth said...

Yes - WHERE are the tracks? Very neat photo. I want to ride one of those. And yes, France is at the forefront of tramway technology (a well-known American scholar in that area once told me so.)

A nice contrast to the earlier shot of the old bus a week or so

    Hi Eric,

It looks as if it's hovering.

  17. Natalie said...

I don't see the tracks either. Is it hovering? Hovering trams would be pretty darn cool. =)

Thanks for the info, tomate. Owen has made a full recovery. He's as obnoxious and energetic as ever!

    Eric,
I'm curious: on shots like this and some of your ground-level street scenes, are you placing your camera down on the ground by itself, or are you lying down or squatting in the grass to get this shot, or do you have an itty bitty tripod? Do people wonder what in the world you are doing if they see you? It would be so cool to have a photographer follow YOU around and capture your pose as you capture your shots. :-)

Salut! Je m'appelle Sabine et je viens d'Autriche. L'année passée j'ai étudié à la Sorbonne. C'est géniale de pouvoir voir chaque jour une photo de Paris. Comme ca, on pense souvent à cette ville magnifique!!!

question : c'est pour quand ce tram !!

  25. Carol said...

    great shot!! No tracks?

  26. Michael said...

Ok, ok, I've been quiet up until now...

The tram is being built by ALSTOM, and the tracks are just cleverly hidden by the shot in the grass.

Of course, another excellent photo Eric. The folks at work will be impressed!

    > Terra Vecchia. J'ai vu les photos elles sont super cool. Y en a qui sont vraiment sympa je dois dire même si vous avez perdu !

    > Tomate and many others (Elisabeth, Natalie, Paradise, Bob, Lotherian, Carol. The tracks are hidden in the grass but they do exist! In fact you an see them on the other photos (the previous posts)

    > They did? Well apparently we're good at trains and stuff like that!

    > Soosha. Thank you, like Tomate says a little after, it's not mother's day yet in France...

    > Single. Yeah, at least you have the proof that they are being trained!

    > Luggi.Like you say, it is already the belly button of the world! LOL.

    > Mr French. I cannot believe PDP is banned in your school! Did you tell them there is not a single photo of Paris Hilton in here? (well, actullay there is one, of THE Paris Hilton!)

    > Haxo. Yep, and that is very unlikely...

    > Buzzgirl. Yes, exactly. Was it by your Scottish friend ;)))))

    > Nerissa. Don't know. I suppose French - There are plenty of trams in the provinces.

    > Wilf. The things I do for PDP!

    > Blondetown. Very good remark. So true. We've come a long way.

    > Soosha. LOL Don't call your son obnouxious!

    > Lisi. If you come after December 2006 it will be up and running.

    > Kbythebay. People who have been with me on the photo shoots comment more on the people staring at me than the object I am photographing! I generally put the camera on the ground, but sometimes my old bones get down there with it...

    > Sabine. Merci, c'est très gentil et c'est exactement pour ça que j'ai fait PDP.

    > Croquette. Fin 2006

    > Michael. I knew you would get a plug in for ALSTOM somehow! you might be interested in this funny american investment show video
