If you come to Paris you will undoubtedly end up visiting the Esplanade du Trocadero from where you have the best view of the Eiffel Tower. But what I like the most on this square are the 8 golden statues located on each side. I chose to show you this one in particular, called Le Printemps (spring) by Paul Niclausse. Really fantastic.

Niclausse received a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle 1900 and a gold medal in 1921, this was followed by the receipt of the Legion of Honor. He became professor at the Ecole des Art décoratifs and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris."

ReplyDeleteOkay, "Spring" is nice (and of course your photo is magnificent), but Pryas' "Le Matin" is better. None of that coy, girlie, playing-with-the-hair stuff. Le Matin stands there with a healthy straight forward presence. See her here:

ReplyDeleteI've never seen them before and it's a nice reminder of when I used to sit in the grass, eat a lemon tart, sip wine and wait for the Tower lights to be illuminated.
so, are all the renovation boards down now? I really must get out of my quartier...
