Mickey Mouse comes to Paris

In Paris this summer, you can go to the beach like on yesterday's post, but you can also see some interesting art exhibits. Today I have the pleasure of sharing with you a really cool one: Mickey dans tous ses états (Mickey in all his states). It's a collection of Mickey Mouse modern art at the Artcurial in the Hôtel Dassault until the 17 th of September. There you can see the painting entitled "Mickey Mao", or the others exhibited by InterDuck, a group of German artists which formed in 1982. They've translated characters such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck into the classics of Miro, Dali, and Delacroix. Amazing what you can do with a mouse - even when it's not plugged to a computer!

  2. Well, at least i would say it's relaxing, that's for sure... especially after the war, the dolphins and the burning Polish tents... looks like they have air con as well in this museum...

Btw, talking about exhibits, i went to see images en mouvement at beaubourg the other day - there are some craps, but also some very good ideas worth checking out. i strongly recomend. and i'm sure you'll be able to take one great shot or two.

  3. I just bought today a funky Minnie Mouse t-shirt that has all of this glitters... you know the saying: renovarse o morir (to renew or to die), maybe this is what The Disney Family's latest effort to stay hip!! (And mau I say it's working!!)

  6. You don't only have unique ideas for items, and wonderful photos, but you also have a genious sense of humour.
I am one of the greatest fans of Mickey in Greece, where our parents used to call all kind of comics as Mickey Mao's.
I am getting angry with my company, that I am co-operating every single day with the company's people in Paris and still they haven't invited to come there and work as I did 2 years ago! This is the only reason I hate WEB!
    Have a good day!

  7. I finally got the real story: Mickey used to be Mickey Mao who was kicked out of the communist party obviously because he is too capitalist.

  12. blondetown: glad you brought that up. There's a lot on the web about the Mickey Mouse Club, but really no official sites that I can find. This Link gives a bit of history though. Did you know that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears were Mouseketeers?

  14. Yes, Michael, I did know about Justin and Britney, but I'm of the Annette Funicello era - had such a crush on Cubby...

  15. P.S. An infamous family story relates the time I apparently sang the Mickey Mouse club song in church instead of the hymn...

  16. Mouseketeers, now that's funny!

I agree with bold soul, the Mickey Dali one is really something else.

Luggi: it's too hot to blog :(

  17. blondetown...that's a funny story about church. I'm sure there were many who wish they were singing along with you...

    All together now...

    Spoken:
    Now Mouseketeers
there's one thing we want you
    always to remember.

Come along and sing our song
    and join our family

    M-I-C
    K-E-Y

    Through the years we'll all
    be friends

    banner high.

Now its time to say goodbye
    to all our company.

    M-I-C
    Spoken:

    K-E-Y
    Spoken:
    why? because we like you

  18. Living near one of the temples of Mouse-dom, I wonder if a thousand years from now archaeologists will be scratching their heads over the civilization that worshiped the Mouse!

  19. Bonjour Eric!

This post is a great example of why I've been a PDP fan for a while now--you always show us a view of Paris that the average tourist doesn't get a chance to see.

Plus, I'm a huge fan of Walt Disney. I think he'd see a lot of humour in the exhibit, especially the Dali painting as the two artists were surprisingly good friends.
