La Parisienne ou l'Américaine?
No, this is not already a doll made after Ségolène Royal! Nor Barbie with the wrong hair coulour... She’s actually a Lois Lane doll better known as Superman’s girlfriend (not the doll, Lois Lane, you idiot!) but I think she could definitely represent the typical Parisienne, at least the one of the 60's. Anyway, for those of you interested in her personal details…she was created by the Robert Tonner Company, has a body made of porcelain, wears wool clothes, and she’s actually holding the Daily Planet newspaper (not shown) made of paper. This is again one of the many varying pieces you can find in the musée d’Arts Decoratifs.

I would love to own a Lois Lane! She looks quite authentic i think. Yes a Parisienne from the 60s. Not keen on the oversized collar though. How much is she?
ReplyDeleteHer hair is still messed up by the last flight she had with her hubby...
ReplyDeleteVery pretty face! She does look a little bit like the original Barbie, standard 1959 issue, though. When was that one made? I really wonder what she's wearing, too. I imagine she must have some cute little skirt matching the top, and high heel shooes, no? Do you, by any chance, have an entire body picture, Eric? Just curious :)
ReplyDeleteoh, damn, the little kid in me just woke up !
ReplyDeleteI see a Barbie doll in the background. Looks like one of the original ones. This Lois Lane could have been her friend, Midge. I used to sew Barbie doll clothes for my sister and my cousin from Florida every summer. Thanks again for the memories! It still won't let me sign in anymore. :( Deb
ReplyDeleteShe could also pass for Jackie Kennedy (if she had a pill-box hat, brown eyes, and her hair wasn't so messy!)
ReplyDeleteIt is nteresting that lifelike dolls can be found in a museum in France whereas in Japan (at least in 2004) somewhat lifelike dolls can be rented for, um, certain purposes.
ReplyDeleteSo what ever happened to Lois lane? Can we get an idea through Margot Kidder circa 2000?
Super! If she wasn't so messed up she could be a Stepford Wife of sorts.
ReplyDeleteSuperman's girlfriend… Is there a hidden message here ? Tell us Eric, do you mean France's salvation will come with a new Superman. Do you know this Messiah ? Please Eric, tell us more !!!
ReplyDeleteAh i KNEW there was someone else in my mind, Pont Girl, it was Jackie Kennedy! Not with that tasteless collar though and yes a pill box hat. Thank you! Was annoying me...
ReplyDeletelove the label Urban Culture too!
ReplyDeleteShall we start a newspaper, Eric, called the Daily Planet? I'll be your Dep. Ed. ? We could fill it easily with all the debate we have on here alone!
Those Stepford Wives Johnny... kind of creepy weren't they.... Brr!
ReplyDeleteWho call you as an idiot? You bastard :D
ReplyDeletePlease excuse me, and thank you Eric, if i may sombre the mood just for a minute. I wanted to say i have posted a pic today of abducted UK girl Madeleine in the hope that the more people who see her, the more chance she may be spotted somewhere in the world and found safe and well. I'd be grateful if you would all find a moment to pop over to my Cheltenham blog so that her little face is on your mind. Just in case! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAhh, Eric, there are so many fascinating things to see in our capital, and your pictures encourage me to get off my backside and discover more of them - nice one!
ReplyDeleteShe also reminds me of these cartoon characters you could see in Jour de France (?) of the late 60's and 70's (if memory serves) called "les Parisiennes" by Kiraz.
ReplyDeleteI didn't find much online but here is a starting point:

lol! I just find it amusing that you just called a bunch of people "idiots!"
ReplyDeleteI was amused too Soosh! To be fair i think in French it's used in a lighter way, like 'you silly thing' almost? Whereas in USA and UK it's a bit stronger, like 'brainless'. LOL !
ReplyDeletepont gurl....Jackie...really?? Jackie..j'adore...Jahkee...Jahkee..Jahkee.. Even later in his life Warhol was amazed at the power Jackie’s image held as a reminder of this event: “As we walked through the galleries every person recognized Jackie. They didn’t come too close. They stopped for a minute, looked, and whispered. You could hear her name in the air: ‘Jackie. Jackie.’ It’s a very strange feeling. There is so much awe and respect for her. Being with her is like walking with a saint.” (From Andy Warhol’s Exposures, p. 82)...Jackie
ReplyDeleteCa va, GG? Just checking! I imagine that "gg lutte finale" has not been celebrating Place de la Concorde lately... Are you OK, man? Just hang in there. :)

ReplyDeleteThank you for asking Tomate ! You guessed right. I suppose you weren't partying either ! Instead I was trying to calm down my partner, who happens to be truly much more "lutte finale" than me. So we decided to watch a good old Louis de Funès. Silly enough to change our mind a bit ! Not that out of date I think : Funès' character could easily have been seen shouting "silence les pauvres!" whilst resting on a billionaire's yacht !… ;o))
ReplyDeleteNo, GG, I didn't party. I'm not exactly "lutte finale" either, just to set the record straight, but I'm not a exactly a fan of the new guy either. Oh well. Better luck next time, I guess.
