A museum? No, a metro station!

Whenever I ride through this metro station I can't help thinking how lucky I am to live in Paris. For yes, people, this is an actual metro station, not the entrance to the Louvre museum! All sculptures and paintings exhibited on the platforms are not genuine ones of course, but they're copies of genuine artwork from Le Louvre (and it's the only station with no advertising on the walls). Don't forget to visit the real museum though ;)
Discuss Paris museums and much more in the brand new PDP forum.

  1. Eric, you said it yourself, you're so lucky!

Only in Paris could there be a metro station like this. Amazing! Thank you so much for showing it to us!

  2. And the Metiers station looks like Jules Verne designed it. J'aime the special stations. What are the other ones with special designs? Parisians, help me...

  4. As far as I can remember, this Louvre metro station was one of the very first to be renovated and "modernized" way back when, in the 70's if memory serves. Actually, I can't even remember what it looked like before anymore, but now it almost looks ancient by comparison with the one under the CNAM and a couple of others whose name I forget.

  10. I do not know too the Parisian subway, but this station must be one of most beautiful not?

This Weekend, I propose on my photo blog on Martel. Before and After.
And amusing, I start with Delfour-Couderc drapery, it was the house of the late arrears Grandparent of Olivier (DP Evry)
(A friend, it is him which me advises to make a blog)

  11. This was one of my favorite métro stops from the first time I saw it. People who come to Paris and don't ride the métro because they think it's too "common", are missing so much.

  12. I left a message on another post but discovered that I had left out the most important part. This is a list of live webcams around Paris (including the jardin d'avant the Hôtel de Ville): http://www.orange.fr/bin/frame.cgi?u=http%3A//paris.ville.orange.fr/direct/webcam_paris.html

  13. Sorry, I forgot. You may have to click twice to get to a webcam in Paris because Orange has it set up so that the first click takes you to a different city in France.

  14. Monica, a little patience, you'll see this station soon ;)

Jeff I love the Arts & Métiers too. I showed it once here I recall but I don't know when ;)
Here you have some interesting ones.

Tonton Flanneur. I'll be in California - well in the bay area - between June 16 and June 24. I'll put a topic in the forum about this so that I can meet people who want to there. I know it's cold out there, isn't?!

I don't know Tomate, but what I know is that in the 80s it's been vandalized badly ;( I see you came up with the same link I came up with LOL.)

Marius, hi. I don't do links exchanges, but if you have a city daily photo blog, you should visit www.dailyphotobog.com and click on "Join" ;)

Dsole. Goya station... that sounds good. Anyway I can see it on the web?

    Jeanne. Welcome ;)

Yes Martel this station is, by far the most beautiful one... The others are not that fancy ;)

Thanks Starman, for the links to the cam. I put the address in the forum.

  15. Eric that's right!!! I'm counting the days believe me!!

The link Tomate showed us is great, I can't stop looking at the metro photos! I remember the one I used to get on, St.Michel ligne 4.
I also like the photo of Saint Germain de Prés station, where the walls reproduce pages of a book.
    Again, only in Paris!

Well, this link here (in French)

    http://www.insecula.com/article/F0010767.html

says that the Louvre metro station was "personalized" in 1968 but doesn't give details. I'll keep looking, cause now I'm really curious!

By the way, Eric, this is the first time I manage to load your blog since yesterday. For some reason, all we could see was a blank page. Glad yo'ure up again :)
