New York loves me!

Look what I found on a Paris sidewalk?! Thought it was funny even though I don't know who's behind this? Is this a new "brand" they are trying to promote (I even found a T-shirt on Zazzle) or just a graffiti for fun? And why not "Paris loves me" (or rather Paris m'aime!) Anyway. FYI, today (Sunday) I'm meeting with Anne Reeves - a regular visitor to PDP, who just arrived in Paris. A "moment of delight", for sure ;-)

  1. Lucky, lucky Anne! And speaking for myself (a born and bred New Yorker: Yes, New York does indeed love you!

  2. Just a thought: Perhaps the people who are flogging the NY [heart] me T-shirts on Zazzle are the ones who are leaving these stencils all over Paris. Marketing via blog? Blogeting?? (Whatever. I'd probably buy one.)

  3. Forgot to close the parentheses up there—bad copy editor! Actually, I would be curious to know the story behind this.

  4. Love these little mysteries. Very odd though. Love the lighting in the shot.

  5. @ Alexa: LOL on "Forgot to close the parentheses up there—bad copy editor!" We call it "déformation professionnelle !"

  6. Yes Eric, Paris loves you ! And you give Paris a lot in return too!
This lovely tag makes me think of a French song : 'un jour j'irai a New york avec toi ...'
I have to look for the rest of the lyrics :)
    G'nite ;)

  7. What a great idea - wish I'd thought of it, I'd be onto the copyright office straight away to protect it. I can see it being produced in all sorts of cities!

  9. Alexa, it's only fitting that you should be the Royal GF aujourd'hui! I'm sure Paris "HEART" NY and YOU, too! Another whimsical photo from the sidewalks of Paris. ;-)

  10. Does New York really love anyone??? I think one would have to ask the New Yorkers. New York is probably the most exciting city in America and definitely the true capital of the USA, mais, je préfère Paris!! Bien sur!!

  11. That's a nice graffiti! That's the 1st time I see it though. Actually I would love to buy a tee-shirt saying that because I'm fed up with all these "I LOVE NY" tee-shirts, could be a cool alternative.

    Lucky Anne!
Why don't you meet at the pub (I mean my pub!), I'll be stuck there all day long and you guys could provide me a nice entertainment. :)

  12. How much fun to meet a fellow blogger! Did you already know each other? I suppose Ann is using her Garmin that was the recent subject of her blog.

Thanks for the good wishes, folks.

  14. I heart NY too.

Actually, what's not to love about everywhere. Yesterday I met someone from New Orleans. Greaaat person, so I automatically love New Orleans.

    Paris comes first, bien sur!

  17. Eric,

I have been visiting your blog, daily, for well over two years now. (You can probably confirm based on my IP!) I say this because after all this time, this is my first comment.

I love this picture, more than anything, for the million and billion different things it could be saying, each dependent on the person viewing it. The picture is beautiful.

    Thank you for sharing.

  19. who is behind this I don't know but for sure the logo comes from la fraise.com (for more info: http://www.lafraise.com/contest.php?op=lafraise_landing&lang=en), not zazzle!

Proof by blog post in march 2008!

  20. I saw another one on my run today in the 5th - stickers this time all over the sidewalk after the May 1st rallies I suppose, saying 'Rêve Général' which was quite nicely ironic. I'll have to try and get a pic of it later.

  21. It is the little touches that can be seen all over Paris that make it such a special place. In Paris, it seems, there is a place for everyone, from everywhere. I am getting whistful about the PDP picnic and wishing I could be there. I used up my vacation fund last summer to go to Paris and it will be a while before I can build it up again. Still, every day, small moments from my trip pop into my memory and I am, for just a minute, back on the beautiful streets of Paris. Paris is always in my mind and heart, no matter where else I may be...

  22. Hmmmm, We don't use the periods on "I heart NY" or any other city in the USA ,as we don't use periods when we abbreviate a State ( as far as the Post Office is concerned, as I'm covering myself for any copy editors!!!!).

The Zazzle site shows prices for the T-shirts in pounds.

That is the end of my detective work.

Ann Reeves is one lucky lady.

  23. You're going to love Anne! She's a great friend of mine, full of wonderful ideas and has a wonderful way of looking at the ordinary and turning it into something fresh and new. I always leave our time together inspired and happy... and ready to write, create, and be delighted!

  27. LOL, Eric!

Yes, hearts on the crown for sure!

Tonton -- New Yorkers are actually very friendly (hey, I'm a New Yorker, after all)!

  28. OK, I confess. I did it.

Well, we do love you Eric, in NY.
Hopefully we can have drinks when we come to Paris in September!

  29. I love how some of you inquired and got closer to the origin of this logo. Thank you Petit Suisse for finding La Fraise (La fraise is a big T-shirt provider here and very successful.)

PHX. Ann Reeves is one lucky lady! LOL.
We had a lovely time at Angelina's. If you happen to be in Paris on the 9th I'm meeting her again at Café de Flore together with Bettina and "the usuals".

And, of course, anybody who is in Paris and cannot make it to the picnic on the 13th.

  30. Oh yay! Hello to Anne. May you both be delighted to meet each other.
