Apple has its store in Paris

Curiously enough, even though France is one of the major markets for Apple, there was no Apple store in Paris until... this morning 10 am. The famous brand opened its first outlet in the Carrousel du Louvre, a very prestigious location. Of course, as always with this "cult", some adepts had started queuing at 6am (reports the Agence France Presse) possibly because of the incentive: the first 5,000 visitors would receive an Apple T-shirt! When I went there around 2 pm, the line was much less important, but the security crew was still everywhere... I'm glad I just bought myself a brand new Windows 7 PC and an Android phone and did not have to queue a single minute for that! LOL

  1. We have one in Sydney and I've yet to visit it. One of those things on my very long list to do.

  2. Oh Eric,
I am so pleased to tell you that I've been a faithful follower at our Birmingham Apple store for almost two years now. In fact, had it not been for my "Mac Dudes" I would never have figured out how to join City Daily Photo!!! CULT you say? Mais oui!! Leave that dark "PC World" and cross over Eric. You will be very glad you did.

PS When I was in Paris last summer, there was an Apple service store steps from our apt. I had some problems with my daughter's Mac Book and the employee that helped me not only fixed my problem but gave me his cell number and email if I should have further problems! Now does anyone want to chat with me about " how rude the French are?"

  3. I'm glad the security guard scored his free t-shirt. What a ritzy spot for their store. I love Apple's Mac versus PC ads and Macs are so dang pretty... yet I still haven't crossed over from the dark side. {LOL, Virginia!}

  4. Dad and brother are Mac addicts - in fact brother is a Mac genius in his job.

I could never get on with the one click - I like my left and right clicks.

    Is Windows 7 any good?

  5. I used to like you until you said that! I hear that the with windows 7 you can still run three quarters of the virus' that you could run on XP.

  7. Virginia - macgenius won't discuss work unless he needs UK tax advice when he has a problem (my area of genius).

Have to admit the MAC I had was around 6 years ago - positively in the age of the dinosaurs.

Dad currently on his 3rd ipod touch in under 10 months - give me an Archos anyday!

  8. Congratulations to Paris for getting an Apple store. We love them here in Wisconsin. Now they just need to offer Paris their products at better prices. I heard it cost 600 euro for an iPhone there but here it's only $300!!

  9. Ooh la la, la Pomme!

After 20 years on a PC, the last year of which was spent tearing my hair out over viruses (though I had expensive virus protection software), I finally converted.

Virginia knows what comes next: After a brief learning curve, I am a Mac junkie. There's just about nothing that could get me back to a PC. It would be like switching from a Ferrari (with a free, super-mechanic) to a Gremlin (with an expensive but useless grease-monkey who doesn't know how to handle a wrench).

  10. Well, as you know I live in NYC, where we have 3 (count 'em, 3) Apple stores. And I have an Apple laptop and a brand-new Apple desktop, complete with snow leopard operating system. W hat can I say?—I'm loyal,

  12. I use a Mac at home and a PC at work. At work, there's a troop of IT workers to take care of all the problems. At home, well, so far so good, 2 years and counting. ;^)

  13. Eli - I've just installed Windows 7 and apart from a couple of differences I can't see much change from Vista. However I haven't had much of a play with it yet.

  15. Funny Eric as I just bought myself a brand new Windows 7 PC too. I'm happy with it. And so are my children for it goes faster than the older PC we've been using since there.
My eldest wanted me to buy a Mac ; Apple is very popular amongst teenagers but I was not very fond of the idea and my daughter finally fell in love with a white Sony one. I just had to agree with that!!
Otherwise, I'm a happy Iphone user. Don't know much about Android, but I trust Eric when he says that's a super choice. If he says it so, it must be so ;)

  16. Last summer they started queing up at 6:00 am to buy the new Iphones! They had lawn chairs for pete's sake and a security guard! I"m not an Iphone user but I do have an Ipod shuffle that I can't do my walk each day without.

I did a post on our Apple Store here:http://birminghamalabamadailyphoto.blogspot.com/2008/08/appleland.html

Eli, Come to Birmingham and they'll help you out! LOL

  17. LOLLL

Eric I thought you were a Mac user.....

I love Apple but I don't like the fact that it is so hard to find places that will do it's maintenance and actually know how to deal with it. It has happened to me more than once that when I needed to call my internet assistance, in the middle of the conversation after informing I have a Mac, there was a silence on the other end. The operators are not trained to deal with Macs.

  18. Well, to paraphrase another expression, "Once you go Mac, you'll never go back!"

  19. Amazingly Paris never had an Apple store. I have an iphone (but it only cost me 150 EUR with subscription) and a Mac, but am mainly a PC guy. Mac for fun, PC for work.
And this is a nice blog. Mine is just photography.

  20. I would have to agree with the majority above... longtime PC user struggling with managing DIY IT administration on home PC... came home with a Mac one day... brief learning curve.... and now I am a multi-platform user!

PC at work and Mac at home and lovin' it!

p.s. my small link to your Paris store... the Seattle Architecture Firm I work for, Callison does the design and planning for Apple stores all over the globe!
