Sunny morning
The past days (since my return from vacation) have been pretty hard. I have been extremely tired, it was dark and cold, and I really felt like hibernating! And this morning, when I woke up, the sun was shining. I then went through the Carrousel du Louvre (two 'r's in French to Carrousel!) like every morning and saw this. And "this" put a smile on my face that remained all day... "This" is the arch of the Carrousel, it was built in 1806 to commemorate Napoleon's military victories (more on Wikipedia). It's a beautiful monument and with this light it's even more beautiful. did you notice the Ferris wheel in the back?

I then went through the Carousel du Louvre like every morning
ReplyDeleteOh, sure. Killing me would be faster if you just drove a stake directly through my heart. Why tease and torture me?
Get some rest, mon petit chou.
Absolutely stunning! I can see why this would put a smile on yur face. I think you may need to do a page-a-day calendar for next year. Every single photo of 2010 has been calendar-worthy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a photo, Eric! You certainly have been posting the jaw-droppers lately. I love the way the sunlight is just beginning to make its way toward the foreground. And, oh, how I love that ferris wheel!!
ReplyDeleteMagnifique! The light and coloring in this are exquisite. Yes, I think a page-a-day calendar may be the way to go.
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo! I like how some trees are bare but others are still ablaze with Fall colors. Here's to continued sunshine and finding many more equally enchanting scenes to make you smile and help get you back on track after your vacation. Thanks for making us smile every day!
ReplyDeleteEverything has been jaw dropping spectacular lately.
ReplyDeleteThe textures, color and lighting were just ready for your composition for today's photo. I don't think I have stared at the Carrousel so long in person as I am now! There is so much you are compelling me to see!!!!!
Oh, my! This is just beautiful, Eric. And you've "saved some part of a day I rued" as the poet (Robert Frost) says. I'll be smiling all night, and I'll take another look in the morning to get me through the day.
ReplyDeletePDP is a living calendar in itself, with each day of the week being a surprise.
ReplyDeleteThere is such a beast as the "365 Days of France" calendar (plus Italy, Ireland, England, you get the idea). Each month devoted to a certain region with a photo over each day. Eric's photos would be perfect for "365 Days in Paris," which I don't think exists.
Oh, that would put a smile on my face too! :-) Bring on the sunshine!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeletea beautiful array of colors....and contrasts
ReplyDeleteDoes Paris grass stay green during winter?
ReplyDeleteVery nicely framed, Eric - the arch mirroring the curve of the Ferris wheel.
ReplyDeleteStunning!!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! This is a totally inspiring, in my humble opinion perfect image.
ReplyDeleteSo now you are posting postcards!
ReplyDelete......Eric, what are you trying to do to us? Jd. de Luxembourg under snow, the Carrousel with a spectacular light AND the Ferris will on the back!!!
How much more do you think we can take?!?!
Another great shot!
ReplyDeleteYup, we can see the Ferris Wheel.
Well done!
When I visited paris, I observed that the city has wonderful town planning and admired at the designs with symmetry. It is amazing that these were builit in centuries ago and the parisans preserves all these monuments in such good conditions.
ReplyDeleteThe composition is so symmetrical and it reminds me of all the nice scenery in paris. Nice sunshine and colour too! Good job!
Another great shot. I like the way the color is prominent but not over saturated. Without the people in the shot, it would be even better. Great job on the photo.
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Goodness.
ReplyDeleteYou just keep getting better and better, Eric!! I'm glad you got rejuvenated by this.
I've looked at this numerous times and I can't believe I never registered how colorful it is! I thought it was monochrome like the Arc de Triomphe. The trees are glorious. I thought they'd be bare.
I haven't been able to post for the last week or so. So, from a couple days ago -- you wanted to know if you can see my slideshow on the internet. I'm so lame with computers, that I'm not sure if there's a way. It's just the "My Pictures" section of my Windows "Start" button. At work I relax by playing all my pictures as a slideshow on my computer.
And...the only pictures I have are all from.....PDP!!!
(I'm not sure my picks would be anyone else's. But if someone wants to see it and can tell me how to get it over to the net, I'll do it. I always dream of a Zazzle pick-your-own-photos calendar option. Maybe someday!!)
This is such a happy photo, no wonder it put a long lasting smile on your face. It's really beautiful.
ReplyDeletePerfect framing, perfect light, perfect composition—this one has it ALL going on (and for icing on the gateau, it's Paris)!
ReplyDeleteI 'm posting almost the same shot next week for ABC Wednesday (my A will be for "arches"). Mine can't compare, bien sur; all your photos lately are such sweet torture.
OMG! How do you capture those pinks, blues, golds? I am convinced you have magic cameras; that is your secret, right?
ReplyDelete@Mrs. Vandertramp, Oui! you got it! A page-a-day calendar!
ReplyDelete@Eiffel Tower Suzy ♥ "PDP is a living calendar in itself, with each day of the week being a surprise." Soooo true!
@♥ Eiffel Tower Suzy ♥ said...
"Does Paris grass stay green during winter?" Hey! how observant you are! You crack me up Suzy!
@J in the blog "I observed that the city has wonderful town planning and admired at the designs with symmetry." Georges-Eugène Haussmann (27 March 1809 – 11 January 1891), who called himself Baron Haussmann, was the French civic planner whose name is associated with the rebuilding of Paris. Look here for more information that Eric posted last September http://www.parisdailyphoto.com/search?q=haussman
@ProPhotoSafari "Without the people in the shot, it would be even better." Not a chance!!!!! That sweet couple walking towards us in the photo makes it so much more intimate -- it's Paris. They look like they are in love -- body language. Even though we cannot really see them clearly -- there is such romance. Eric captures Paris, and the people of Paris.
ReplyDeleteI am all for people in pictures. Being a painter, people are my favorites to paint. Especially romantic people.
Exquisite photo!
ReplyDeleteThis is really perfect Eric! I LOVE the color & light and the Ferris wheel in the background! really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe light is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe light is amazing! The symmetry really works here! And of course I love the Ferris wheel. This image has a great sense of rhythm. Excellent job, Eric. :)
ReplyDeleteThe colour is superb. Different types of marble?
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the only sun we've seen in Paris all week! Gorgeous Eric! And the Luxembourg photo below is stunning as well.
ReplyDeleteV
Merci pour cette magnifique photo, Eric !
ReplyDeleteYou know what? That's the 1st time I realize that the columns are in red marble...
That's typically my kind of photo, my kind of sunny day, my ... Oh my ...
ReplyDeleteYour photos are ALWAYS great but this has to be one of the most beautiful. LOVE, LOVE the colors in the photo.
ReplyDeleteEric
ReplyDeleteAnother one for next years calendar! Two in two days, superb composition with the carousel in the centre arch and a lamp post in the right one.
I'm so glad that it made you happy Eric and I can see why; you've captured it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteSweetness and Light! I hope your delightful mood lasts all day! xo Anne
ReplyDeleteGasp, this is beautiful and will definitely put a smile on my face all day. Thank you, dear heart, for this gorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteStunning photo,i love morning my favorite time or day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic light! I visit PDP every day and I always know that a wonderful photo is waiting for me, but now I've understand that photos are getting just better and better! Eric, it's amazing what you do every day :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent shot, Eric. You'll have to make a daily calendar for 2011! I love this like crazy.
ReplyDeleteThe vivid colors are amazing. What a contrast from yesterday. Love both shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing shot! The symmetry is spot on with the trees, the lamps within the arches and then of course La Grande Roue- which is a favorite because I still have yet to see it in person. When I went to Paris it was not up and I was so dissappointed.
ReplyDeleteAgain Eric you have brightened my day! 2010 is promising to have great daily fixes of (IMHO) the greatest city in the world! Have a great weekend!
Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteSpeachless in Seattle. Your happiness in seeing "this" is contagious. Oh, the light! We are all smiling.
ReplyDelete-Kim
maybe one of your best pictures, good job
ReplyDeleteThis is magnificent Eric - perfectly composed, and those colours! Your city is truly beautiful, and you capture it so well.
ReplyDelete@PHX, Parisian heart... and a few others "Everything has been jaw dropping spectacular lately. " LOL. Yes, it's about time I calm down!
ReplyDelete@Monica "So now you are posting postcards!" Yes, true, but that won't last!
@Carrie " I'm glad you got rejuvenated by this." Yeah, but that too won't last!
@Alexa " all your photos lately are such sweet torture." LOL
@Lois " I am convinced you have magic cameras; that is your secret, right?" Gee, how did you know?!
@Thib "You know what? That's the 1st time I realize that the columns are in red marble..." Ben voilà. You are too Parisian now. You walk down the streets as if everything was normal to you!!
@Marleen "Eric, it's amazing what you do every day :)" Er... Don't say that I may believe it one day!
@ET Suzy. You really crack me up!
ha- I'm happy that this picture generated so much reactions. >Mine will just be... Eric, thank you for this one. The colors are fine, the mood is perfect.......... how better could any aventurier français describe a walk through the Tuileries with less emotion ? :-D
ReplyDeleteIs there something more beautiful? I'm telling you : no, not yet!!
ReplyDeleteThat's really perfect Eric, both your picture and your caption. I always enjoy reading you and today's caption is beautiful. Probably because I really felt what you described.
I. e. "And this morning, when I woke up, the sun was shining", that's the first thing I thought yesterday morning too and how good it was.
Thank you for making this beautiful sunny day lasting a bit more today which was between the blue and the grey color, but not bad at all.
Like Nikatay said, "2010 is promising to have great daily fixes!". I'll go for that and for a long time anyway.
Great photo...just found your site. I am looking forward to exploring the rest!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really, really nice photo! Great light. Great composition. A+++
ReplyDeleteI'd smile, too, if I got to walk through that beautifully lit arch -:)
ReplyDeleteOh please, Eric ... No need to "calm down" on our account! :)
ReplyDeleteParis Je T'aime
ReplyDeleteLike Carrie, I never realized the amount of colors inherent in the Carrousel du Louvre. Nice capture. Your camera and eye are magical.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! I love the colors!
ReplyDeleteOooh love love love this!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI don't see how in the world you can choose for next year's calendar! There have been several candidates already and it is the middle of January! Pace yourself, Eric!!
absolutely breathtaking. ahhh your killing me with jealousy!
ReplyDeleteQuelle lumière extraordinaire ! So Paris !
ReplyDeleteyou're right Nasty GG, the light is amazing ! Congratulations Eric and BRAVO ;-)
