Christmas Tree
Time to set up the Christmas tree! They are everywhere in Paris at the moment: in front of supermarkets, of florists and you can even order one on line, of course! The price varies according to the size of the tree, from 40 € for a 1 meter (30 inches) high tree to 150 € for a 3 meter (118 inches) high tree (which does not really fit an average Paris apartment!). Mine is... 0 meter high as I don't want to go through the hassle of undoing it after Christmas ;-) Not that it's messy, but simply sad... I took this photo at rue Cadet, a litlle street by my home, where there is a daily market.

I may have a rather American idea- are artificial trees available? Maybe a table top size? When I move, that's what I plan to bring with me.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting seening people carry trees. I've only seen them strapped to cars.
*seeing*
ReplyDeleteIt is reassuring to see people maintaining the Christmas tradition. There is nothing that brings the scent of Christmas like a real Christmas tree in the house.
ReplyDeleteJoyeux Noël!
This is another favourite photo! I love the way you've left just that flash of red and the green of the tree against the black-and-white street scene. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI, too, appreciate the splashes of color in the photo.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you about trees: all the effort to decorate it, and then it's over, and I have to pack it away. I surely love trees in other people's houses, though!
Wow—trees are expensive in Paris! But this photo of one of them is great. I don't regret buying an artificial tree enough years ago that it has paid for itself by now. I don't care what my kids say—it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHOW MUCH????????????
ReplyDeleteGood grief, Christmas trees are expensive in Paris! A metre high tree here in the UK would cost around £12 (14euro). You cannot beat the look and scent of a real tree though, whatever the price.
Hohoho, a delightful little photo.
ReplyDeleteI love your color/B&W choice, Eric.
ReplyDeleteGreat Photo Eric! I love the speed blur on either side of the picture coupled with the subject walking hurriedly away from the camera. The Christmas 'rush' is surely upon us!
ReplyDeleteDermo
During my one Christmas in Paris, I couldn't help but notice how everyone had just table-top sized Christmas trees. [Here in the U.S. they are at least as tall as you are, from the floor.] Since then I've been looking around for one but never see them. I guess I just need to buy a full-size and cut it down to size...which seems like such a waste.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, this is a wonderful photo - I like how you kept all in black and white except the little bit of red and green.
Cool Christmas tree photo.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it is a little sad. But you do have fond memories of another wonderful holiday season. I don't take down my Christmas tree until after the New Year's celebration. And by then the tree is literally falling down all by itself. To avoid the mess, I pitch the tree out of the window and then go down to the street to put it in the garbage. LOL HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Love this photo!!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of Christmas it is without the Christmas tree?! :(
ReplyDeleteAt least the smallest one!
Love this Eric!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the mood of this photo and especially the b/w with just a pop of color. Delightful!
ReplyDeleteSomeone rushing to bring it home.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is just around the corner. I love Christmas and The Santa Claus is coming to town!
ReplyDeletechristmas tree of course is essential for our december and make happy the children that we can do
