Passage Brady

There is small Passage in the 10th arrondissement called Passage Brady and it's really worth a visit if you're into graffitis (and Indian food!)... The whole place is covered with them and some of them are real pieces of art. I chose to show you this one, which made me smile...

  1. Like it when it's art, hate it when it's self-indulgent "tagging." This has elements partly of one and too much of the other, but it's still a shame to cover up that nice old blue door. Makes for a good photo though, well captured by you!

  2. That door has the same expression that I usually do: nonplussed.

(Sorry I deleted the first comment - I was logged in as my real name!)

  3. Fun picture! The doors look as if they could lead to some magical realm. :)

  4. WEll Eric, you know by know how I feel about taggers here and in Paris. Sorry, but they screwed up a perfectly nice old door in Paris with a cheap can of spray paint. I"m not smiling. I guess I"m an old grouch.

  5. I just returned from 5 weeks in Paris and I saw graffiti really taking hold again.
What happen to the "war on graffiti" that was started a few years ago and was wiped almost totally out? It was a pleasure to travel to a big city that really had control on this blight.

  6. Yeah, this is closer to tagging, I think.

  7. Basically, graffiti is damaging somebody else's property. Who would like this sprayed on your car, your house, your scooter when come out in the morning? It's vandalism. Oh, sorry, did I express an opinion? "Minnesota Nice" people aren't supposed to do that.

  8. Yellow looks good on blue and i like the quick line; perhaps the owner asked a tagger to take care of the old, partly damaged door and draw a face that sends the message: "stay away, we don' want you here"?

  9. I would like the face on a canvas in a pop art gallery---but on this beautiful, old blue door---it just makes me feel sad! Tagging is a blight on the City.

  10. I'll join the chorus of boos. But,its a nice photo and a another peek at Paris that I'd never get otherwise. Never heard of Passage Brady and will see what I can see on Google Maps. Merci, Eric.

  11. I didn't realise that passage Brady had graffiti Eric - I'll have to get over there and check it out.
By the way, I've been known to get my hair - ok, hairs - cut there for €6 and to be honest it's pretty much the same as elsewhere for €60 or more. But then again I don't have that much to work with :-D

  12. I think I have to agree with the "this ruined a perfectly good old door" crowd. I love the blue and would wonder what was behind. A face just staring at me? Not fun. But thanks for sharing, Eric!

  14. Yes, NZ certainly got thumped, and the Aussies got flooded recently. Mother Nature is making herself heard lately, and many people are suffering.
