Reading in the sun


When I saw this old lady reading peacefully in this garden I knew right away it would make a nice photo. I think it does ;-) Of course, the black and white adds a little to it, but not only. Anyway, FYI, I took this photo in Le jardin des Invalides. BTW, don't forget, if you're in Paris, next Sunday I'll be talking about PDP at Le Salon de la photo on Sunday at 4pm.     Reminds me of "Afternoons With Margeritte" I saw recently. Wonder if Gerard Depardieu will happen by. Also reminds me of a photo I took of old people sitting on benches in Notre Dame Park in 1974. Alas, I am old myself now.

    Yes, around the back! Love the tension you have captured with her on a seesaw rather than a bench.

    Is that pond ever full of water? ZI have only ever seen it full of pipes and silent water jets.

    The first thing I noticed was how the upper half of her body echoes the triangles in the shape of the trees!

    Nice composition, I mean, REALLY nice composition!

    This photo and the news of Steve Jobs passing away makes me very sad today. He was the most influential geniuses of our time, yet so humble and simple in his own way.

    Love the composition, especially the trees, marching away from you. Just lovely. And black and white makes such an impact that would be totally lost in color.

    I agree—this photo is beautifully composed. And I'd be on the next plane to Paris if I could, to come hear you speak about PDP. Well, you know I'd be on the next plane to Paris even for no good reason—the city is reason enough! :~}
