Christmas market

I think I have never shown that many times the Eiffel Tower on PDP than this past month! This time it's from the side of the Trocadero, where, on top of the ice rink, they also have a marché de noël (Christmas market)  where you can find anything from Russian dolls to gluewein and French cheeses! Always a great success, and the presence of the iron lady in the background adds a little flavour to it. Last days to complete your Christmas shopping everyone... Mine's completed (99% online this year!)

  2. Gorgeous shot, Eric! I wish I could be there right now. I especially love how each stand at the market has a cute little festive rooftop!

  3. How sparkly! And I spy Mozartkugeln. I can't bring myself to say the English translation, as it sounds way too naughty. :)

  4. This is divine, so golden and glowy. I love it!

Shell, I put Mozartkugeln into Google translate and I got Mozartkugeln.

  5. Love, love, love the photo! I love going to the Marche de Noel - it is so magical. I used to go the one in Amiens (north) each year. I didn't know there was one right in Paris. Lovely photo.

  7. A very christmassy shot ;o)
I live next to the German border so I'm used to these huge Christmas Markets with all the stalls but with the Eiffel Tower in the background this must be THE market.

  8. @Petrea. In German Mozart means... Mozart and Kugeln... balls!
The ad says "real Salzburg Mozart balls"... And I have no idea what this is about (something tells me our friends Drummond, Jeff, Michael... will surely give their 2 cents!)

Maybe Bettina? Being near the German border (but not the one close to Austria though!) has an explanation.

  9. LOL :-D
Mozart Kugeln are chocolate balls with a nut in the center.
(for some reason this comes out wrong, lol).
    And they are quite expensive.

  10. Sounds like we'd have to give a bit more than two cents to taste them.
My other comment is unprintable on PDP, but lets just say it involves Mozart's Magic Flute and leave it at that.

  12. It looks like an amazing place to wander, especially right next to our favorite landmark! As for Christmas shopping there, do they have spy equipment for my son? That's what he's in to this year! Books for my girl, spy gear for my boy and we're good! :)

    Merry Christmas to all!

  13. Google chickened out and translated kugeln as "rolls." Here's the awful thing, though: I'm an adult and I'm sitting at my desk at 6:30 in the morning trying to come up with a joke involving balls and magic flutes! And I can't come up with a good one!

Christie: google "spy toys." You will be amazed.

  14. ...and Drummond's Magic Flute comment conjures up the queen's soprano aria:

    A A A A A A A A A A A A AAHH.

    and so on...

  15. Can't figure out how to represent the tempo of those staccato notes. Any musicians out there?

  18. Thanks for explaining Shell's joke, Eric! Very funny Shell, as well as the rest of you! I have seen these for sale at Cost Plus World Market in the U.S., where they have an awesome foodie section of all sorts of delectable treats mostly from Europe.
