Restaurant "Derrière"

Today (well Tuesday) I had lunch with the communications manager of Fotolia, who took me to an amazing restaurant I never knew of. It's called Le Derrière and it's really a place you have to visit if you come to Paris. It's a 3 story building (pretty old - it's located in Le Marais, near the Pompidou Center) with many rooms that you can rent out for a party (like this one in the photo). The ground floor is more like a "classic" restaurant even though the decor is everything, but classic! Have a look at a few other shots on the Making of... And read a critic by La Fourchette.

  1. It looks like a very unusual place! I like unusual places.

  3. I think it is called Derrière (behind), and not Le Derrière (the butt!)

  4. Yes, I think you're right Chrisos. According to this review of Derrière, "It's not Le Derrière, just Derrière, which means ‘behind’. ‘Cos it’s derrière the other two establishments." I've been to one of the other restaurants nearby and it's well worth the ambiance in the street just watching the people coming and going.

  5. For a moment I thought you had given us a little glimpse of you apartment, Eric!

Reminds me of one of those films where the parents go away for the weekend, the kids decide to have a party and this is the result.

Very quirky, looks like a fun place.

  6. It looks like a place I would hold my coat tightly as I walked through. Yep, not my kind of place! LOL Glad you enjoyed it though.

  7. Do you know anyone who would/could pay 8 euros for a mousse au chocolat?

    I don't, and I don't want to!

  8. @vf. Even if it's a good mousse?!

Obviously I may have picked the wrong photo to show this place, but I swear, it's really worth a visit (and I don't hold any share in this business!).
