Small photo today... Small, but wide! For yes, ladies and gentlemen, it snowed again in Paris last night and I took advantage of it to photograph the famous Place du Tertre (located at the top of Montmartre) with a small camera I recently bought that has a built in panorama function. It's also one of the rare occasions where you can see this place almost empty, for it's usually packed! Don't forget to click on it if you want a larger view.

COOL! More like this one please!
ReplyDeleteIts so beautiful, Eric!! It looks like a fairyland in the snow. I love taking composite 360 degree photos with lenses like this. Speaking of which, there's a recent book (I can't remember the name now) that's nothing but totally gorgeous 360 degree photos, all of France -- some of which then fold out into 3 foot long images -- imagine!! I'm sure you can find it online.
ReplyDeleteI just realized this photo's all French red, white and blue, too! It would be great matted up in patriotic colors ... or put in a Paris calendar filled with red, white and blue images (just an idea in case you happen to have any of those 'lying around'). ;)
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI have one of those cameras -- I love it! It's great for landscapes. And, if you turn it the other way -- you have the "Chines Scroll Painting" format for an Asian feel.
ReplyDelete**Chinese** (typing too fast and didn't quite hit the key hard enough)
ReplyDeleteFun photo. I confess that every time I've been there, I just walk right by through because it's so crammed full of tourists (like me) and not so impressive stuff to buy. I usually go to see the little vineyard and the Lapin Agile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this! The place was packed when I was there last spring, so I had no way of seeing the place like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo. I'm impressed that there's still artists there in the winter. I always figured it would be totally empty in the winter.
ReplyDeleteEven though it's very touristy, I have a soft spot for Place du Tertre.
Wonderful, Eric! Thank you so much. Stay warm, Mon Ami!!! (^_^)
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, thank you! No matter what the weather Paris is always beautiful!

Love it!!! And...I have never seen the place du Tertre...so empty!! Just some trivia....there is an old watercolor(quite soiled)of the place du Tertre hanging in the laundry room of my apartment building in San Francisco!! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so easy to forget what a charming area this is when you're battling you way through a sea of tourists (like Jeff:)
ReplyDeleteLove it.
Beautiful shot! I like it without the crowds.
ReplyDeleteI think I remember reading about this place! Artists who have their works for sale and you can find almost anything you're looking for of Paris among the stalls. Oh, this is a place I want to visit!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new panoramic view!! :)
Love this!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen it so empty. Of course, I've never seen Tonton's dirty laundry either, but that I can avoid. I have seen Jeff wandering around like a tourist though and it ain't a pretty sight :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the panorama Eric. I agree, more of these will be nice.
I hope you play with this camera some more, Eric! And what a pleasure to see (I mean actually see) the Place du Tertre.
ReplyDeleteIs this the place in Midnight in Paris, where Owen Wilson meets the girl with the Coltrane records?
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely picture, Eric.
ReplyDeleteThis is delightful. Thanks for the memories.
ReplyDeleteNice shot! Perhaps you should give some details on which settings you used for capturing this amazing shot.
ReplyDeleteThe panoramas are PERFECT for stealing, ahem, borrowing to use as banner photos on the Facebook timeline :)
